Phoenix Children's Hospital is Hiring a Medical Library Manager Near Phoenix, AZ
This medical librarian position has operational/management responsibility for the Medical Staff Library. Works with other libraries, institutions and vendors to make resources available to all hospital staff, and to develop and/or procure resources and systems to best meet the evidence-based needs of such staff.
Position Duties
- Locates knowledge-based information and performs literature searches using a wide range of electronic resources, uses evidence-based resources to answer clinical and research questions posed by hospital staff, and obtains articles or other materials requested by hospital staff via interlibrary lending or other means.
- Manages and directs library operations, including establishing goals and budget, monitoring expenditures, evaluating outcomes by conducting needs assessment surveys, and promoting and marketing library resources and services.
- Provides and develops formal and informal instruction in the use of library resources including online databases, artificial intelligence platforms, social media, and other information-rich resources or technologies. Participates in training for various staff: Nurse residency, new physician orientation, new fellow and intern orientation, research boot camps, Journal Clubs, Publishing Workshops, departmental meetings, one-on-one training, and other meetings as requested.
- Works in collaboration with other libraries, consortia and information professionals to develop products, services, and resources for Phoenix Children’s. Maintains participatory membership in Docline and the Arizona Health Information Network (AZHIN) to secure reduced consortial pricing for library resources.
- Participates in appropriate Phoenix Children’s committees, i.e. Graduate Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education, Nursing Research, Institutional Review Board, Patient Safety, and other committees as requested.
- Oversees collection development, selects and maintains library resources, and maintains electronic access to library resources. Ensures online resources and services are functional and available at the point of care. Negotiates with vendors and oversees contracts and licenses.
- Supports Phoenix Children’s commitment to research by assisting all staff with research proposals or projects, and helping with the publication or presentation process, including identifying potential journals for article submission, proofing article drafts and verifying references. Maintains the Phoenix Children’s research publications dashboard. Supports Phoenix Children’s commitment to continuing education by assisting all staff with their educational goals.
- Participates in professional activities, including research and professional associations, to continue professional development. Presents at professional meetings and publishes in scholarly journals. Serves in leadership roles in local, regional and national associations.
- Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
