TITLE: Recruiter

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

REPORTS TO: HR Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Recruiter will work in the Human Resources Department and will be responsible for Recruiting, Interviewing, Hiring and Onboarding all new staff. Recruiter will be responsible for growing our diversity and maintaining a work force that represents our community.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Consult with directors, managers and others to determine hiring needs for the organization.
2. Proactively forecast employment needs.
3. Meet yearly diversity goals.
4. Schedule and conduct interviews.
5. Assess candidates to determine their fit for the position.
6. Facilitate and/or oversee all areas of recruitment from advertising to completion of onboarding.
7. Responsible for multi-layer onboarding process.
8. Help plan and organized employee functions.
9. Coordinate with managers to ensure a successful first 30-90 days for new employees.
10. Make employment offers.
11. Responsible for thorough background checks on all candidates.
12. Forward candidates who meet and exceed the expectations for each position for additional interviews with managers.
13. Thoroughly and accurately present duties, responsibilities and compensation to potential new hires.
14. Overcome hesitations to persuade highly desirable candidates to consider job.
15. Perform other job duties as needed.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SENSORY DIMENSIONS

1. Physical mobility: sitting, standing, walking, lifting/carrying objects up to 30 pounds; manual dexterity to operate keyboard.
2. Mental effort: reading, writing, analyzing, scheduling organizing and visualizing.
3. Sensory requirement: Ability to communicate and respond both in person and over the phone to the general public, staff and volunteers in a friendly manner.
4. Ability to handle confidential material, exercise initiative and display sound judgment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. May require evening and weekend work.
2. Will have occasion to work in or pass through any area of the Conservatory or growing houses.

MINIMUM POSITION GUIDELINES (Education, Experience and Certification)

1. Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
2. Must have a knowledge of and strong interest in sustainable practices, and Phipps’ mission.
3. 3-5 years’ experience preferred.
4. Must hold a current Pennsylvania driver’s license and be insurable by the conservatory.
