The Supervisor of Learning implements the strategic vision of the Senior Manager of Learning & Development and contributes to the overall success, performance and effectiveness of Paycom employees, and SaaS adoption and usage for Paycom clients. The Supervisor of Learning leads the development, organization, and execution of learning and development programs for employees and clients, software product knowledge and organizational initiatives managed by the Team Leader of Learning. The Supervisor of Learning serves as an adult learning (pedagogy) subject matter expert and consultant to business unit leaders and clients with the primary goals of organizational alignment and standardization between learning and development programs and initiatives. The Supervisor of Learning hires, develops, leads and coaches a cross-functional team, including, but not limited to front-line leaders and business partners to ensure efficient and effective execution and performance of the Center of Excellence (COE) learning organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a learning and development consultant to business unit leaders by leading all strategic planning activities related to talent planning and performance enablement strategies for employees’ learning and development career paths and to product management and sales leaders by leading strategic planning activities related to client/end-user training and adoption.
  • Oversees Team Leaders who manage cross-functional COE teams including, but not limited to learning partners, instructional designers and content developers who successfully develop and deliver training programs and solutions utilizing skills and knowledge in instructional design, adult learning principles, program design and training technologies.
  • Provides program goals and direction, removes roadblocks and ensures Team Leaders of Learning meet the desired outcomes and performance objectives.
  • Aligns with strategic vision of the department leadership and actively drives the Learning & Development mission by supporting, coaching and directing team members to produce quality training programs and achieve business unit, department, program and performance metrics and standards.
  • Oversees the development of training, learning activities and supporting documentation consistent with instructional design standards, current learning science, adult learning theory and knowledge of the targeted audience to ensure effective knowledge transfer, retention, skill proficiency and performance of the learner.
  • Builds trust and rapport enterprise-wide through open communication, continuous collaboration, productive feedback and an agile mentality.
  • Instructs, delegates to and coaches team leaders and their team members to meet their performance expectations.
  • Leverages quantitative and qualitative talent trend data to measure and improve current learning and talent practices, weighs alternatives, and considers service and business implications from decisions and recommendations.
  • Manages workforce capacity and work priorities of team members in collaboration with the Team Leaders of Learning and creates a positive and engaging work environment to support career development for all learning professionals.
  • Challenges the status quo and provides guidance and resources to create a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Studies industry trends through research, benchmarking, and market analysis to determine best practices and deliver a world-class training experience for learners and a positive team environment for our team members.

Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree HR, education, business, journalism or similar field required
  • 6 years of experience in a role related to learning, training, HR or similar field
  • 4 years of previous leadership experience, preferably in an education or training environment with a focus on adult learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Professional certification, such as SHRM-CP, PHR, APTD or CPTD
  • Background in adult learning theory, instructional design, copy writing, technical writing, visual design, or similar expertise

  • Observe, coach and motivate team leaders to successfully develop and deliver world-class training solutions using instructional design, adult learning principles, program design and training technologies to enable a high performing workforce and client usage and adoption.
  • Highly developed executive presence with proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Act as a brand ambassador by modeling Paycom values and Learning & Development mission in every interaction with clients, colleagues, and the general public.
  • Proven ability to lead in a matrixed environment of cross-functional teams while demonstrating servant leadership and influence.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple people and programs with aggressive deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze training program data and evaluate objectively and coach team leaders.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking approach.
  • Proven ability to effectively and professionally communicate in visual, verbal and written form.
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change quickly personally and as a leader.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and is willing to work flexible hours and occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel to events
