About Pasadena Christian School:

Pasadena Christian School is an independent Christian K-8 school as well as preschool that serves a diverse community ethnically, economically, and in the Christian faith. Together, we have served the Pasadena area for the past 77 years. The primary mission of Pasadena Christian School is to provide its students with the spiritual development and academic training, needed to become men and women who are worthy representatives of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Working with the family and the local church, we seek to provide our students with the foundation necessary to become people whose lives reflect an uncompromising commitment to follow Christ, people of unquestioned integrity, and pursue life-long excellence.

Job Summary:

The Preschool Associate Teacher has primary responsibility for providing supervision and a play experience that support’s Pasadena Christian School’s values and service. The person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting the teacher with the supervision and management of a class of children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old. This person must be sensitive and mature, while having the ability to relate well to both children and adults.

This is a continuous applicant pool. Positions are filled on an as needed basis. As a position becomes available, you may be contacted by the hiring manager to schedule an interview.

This is a full-time position and requires employees to work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the classroom teacher in preparing and implementing classroom curriculum, while aiding in any capacity requirements.
  • Responsible for instructing and supervising groups of children, preparing and following lesson plans, assessing, and documenting children’s development.
  • Shares housekeeping responsibilities to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Assisting children in developing social, communication, physical, and cognitive milestones.
  • Maintains ongoing observations, progress reports, and developmental status of each child.
  • Conducts daily inspection of indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Supervises children’s activities indoor and outdoor to ensure safety.
  • Attending staff meetings, and all required school functions outside of regularly scheduled working hours. Including in-service training, orientations, and other required training (e.g., CPR).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in early childhood development or related field.
  • A minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood classes (required)
  • College degree in Child Development (preferred)

  • Proclaims they are a Born Again Christian who knows Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.


Physical, Mental, and Visual Requirements:

  • Able to lift, bend, grasp, reach, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, work in a busy environment, learn, and retain information.
  • Ability to support children from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Possesses a genuine commitment to Christian service. Has initiative and creativity, is highly productive, and is flexible.
  • Agrees with the school’s statement of faith and the purpose and goals of PCS in providing an integrated Christian education.

Compensation:

The hourly compensation for this role is $17.00 to $21.00. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to salary, PCS offers a generous benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision benefit plans for eligible employees.
