Palisades Holdings, Inc. is Hiring a Human Resources Operations Specialist Near Baker, LA

The Human Resources Operations Specialist is responsible for maintaining and contributing to the improvement of Human Resources Department systems, processes, and records for multiple companies while providing support to management, employees, and other Human Resources team members.

Responsibilities and Duties

At a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Human Resources Operations Specialist. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.

  • Assist hiring managers with recruiting and hiring employees.
    • Maintain Applicant Tracking System, ensuring data and activities related to open jobs remain current.
    • Post and update jobs with source(s) selected by hiring manager, i.e., online job boards, executive search firm, college career centers, etc.
    • Phone pre-screen candidates and perform reference checks and verifications of employment, as requested by hiring managers.
    • Provide guidance and arrangements for candidates to complete company assessments.
    • Arrange pre-employment background check and drug testing with vendor, communicate next steps with candidates, and inform hiring manager when results become available.
    • Draft official offer letters and job descriptions.
  • Maintain assessment system and score reports.
  • Verify charges billed for assessments and pre-employment screenings.
  • Conduct HR Welcome Call with new hires to explain policy and benefit information, review onboarding tasks, and answer any questions.
  • Maintain onboarding tasks established in HR system and assist employees and management to ensure timely execution of required documentation.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about company policies, procedures, and benefit programs.
  • Maintain monthly head count workbook.
  • Provide guidance and necessary documentation for employees requesting extended leave from work, based on their eligibility for FMLA, state leave programs, short-term disability, or long-term disability.
  • Track employee leave events and documentation, respond to provider inquiries, and keep management apprised of updates necessary for staffing.
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Compile quarterly HR newsletter with content relevant to company culture, best practices for employee relations, and talent management trends in the workplace.
  • Stay abreast of employment law changes and communicate as applicable to internal management.
  • Report and correspond with workers compensation carrier, employee, and management regarding work related injuries.
  • Maintain and report monthly safety statistics and DART reports.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and inquiries from outside sources with appropriate consent.
  • Conduct training for HR-related systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with HR Manager to plan and execute employee training and company-wide communication.
  • Conduct exit interviews with employees voluntarily resigning and summarize and track trends for executive leadership.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other HR related duties as required and assigned by the HR Manager.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with some business college related courses
  • Two or more years of Human Resources experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail orientated with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work independently on assigned tasks
  • Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, employees, and all levels of management
  • Strong work ethic; self-motivated
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Five or more years of Human Resources experience
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification
