Who We Are
The Enterprise Technology Services Division (ETSD) of the Office of the State Court Administrator (OSCA), part of the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD), is hiring a Server Support Specialist (Information Technology Specialist). ETSD provides business solutions, system support, technology vendor management, and information security for OJD. If you want to support Oregon’s courts by providing fair and accessible justice services through technology, we encourage you to apply. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission.
Benefits to You
OJD provides a variety of employee benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage and paid leave. Optional employee-paid benefits include life insurance, long- and short-term disability, long-term care, flexible spending accounts, and commuter benefits. New employees who are not already Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) members will participate in the Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan (OPSRP) and the Individual Account Program (IAP) after six calendar months of employment in a qualifying position. The OPSRP plan can provide a lifetime pension after five years of service, and the IAP is a separate investment account in addition to the pension. Employees also have an opportunity to participate in the Oregon Savings Growth Plan, a 457(b) deferred compensation retirement plan. For additional information on OJD employment benefits, visit here. Salary offers are made with consideration of the candidate’s education and experience.
Position Highlights
Your main role as a Server Support Specialist will be to ensure the stability and security of OJD’s enterprise servers and storage technology platform. To this end, you will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring, and performing optimization for the OJD Enterprise Server environments and other server applications and hardware. You will periodically conduct restore tests, plus basic and advanced recoveries, to ensure all backups in each data set are recoverable. You will also develop and maintain reporting and health metrics for all enterprise systems, resolving issues that arise from health checks.
Additionally, you will create and maintain documentation for protocols, procedures, and configurations of OJD servers and systems. You will also manage and maintain the server and storage hardware and integrated software for configuration and systems management, case management and backend systems, the VMWare virtual infrastructure that provides the foundation for most servers and storage used by the enterprise, the SQL databases for all major systems, and the Active Directory services (local and cloud based) to ensure appropriate access and authentication for the enterprise systems.
You will architect, plan, and test new technologies and solutions that could benefit OJD. You will also investigate, analyze, and recommend the viability and feasibility of new projects, solutions, and integrations for OJD’s current systems. Part of your time will be spent providing procurement advice and recommendations to local courts about servers and storage systems.
In doing your work, you will actively engage with internal and external customers to resolve issues related to OJD’s servers and systems.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
