Only Angels Home Healthcare, LLC in Wichita, KS is looking for one home health aide to join our 22 person strong team. We are located on 1624 S Rutan Ave. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and hard-working.
Home Health Aide
Duties
- Provide personal care and related services in the home under the direction, instruction and supervision of the staff nurse and the Nurse Supervisor.
- Tasks to be performed by an HHA must be assigned by and performed under the supervision of an RN who will be responsible for the patient care provided by the HHA.
- Under no circumstance may an HHA be assigned to receive or reduce any intravenous procedures or any other sterile or invasive procedures other than rectal temperatures.
Responsibilities
- Follow the plan of care to provide safe competent care to the client.
- Help the patient maintain good personal hygiene and assist in maintaining a healthful safe environment.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals when instructed to do so by the nurse.
- Assist the patient with ambulation as ordered by the physician and approved and supervised y the nurse.
- Assist the therapy personnel with rehab processes.
- Encourage the patient to become as independent as possible according to the nursing care plan.
- Attempt to promote patients’ mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
- Give simple emotional and psychosocial support to the patient and other members of the household and establish a relationship with patient and family which transmit trust and confidentiality.
- Report any change in the patients mental or physical condition or in the home situation to the staff nurse or to the Aide supervisor.
- Perform routine housekeeping tasks as related to a safe and comfortable environment for the patient.
- Prepare a visit report promptly and incorporate same in the clinical record weekly.
- Confirm on a weekly basis the scheduling of visits so that other necessary visits can be coordinated.
- Work with personnel of other community agencies involved in the patients care as directed by the nurse.
- Attend in-service as required by regulation or company policy.
- Has access to all patient medical records which may be discussed with the nurse supervisor.
Job Conditions
- The ability to drive and the ability to access patients’ homes which may not be routinely wheelchair accessible.
- Hearing, eyesight and physical dexterity must be sufficient to perform a physical assessment of the patient’s condition and to perform patient care.
- On occasion be required o bend, stoop, reach and move patient weight up to 250 pounds: Lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing in English.
Environment
- Contact with client under a wide variety of circumstances.
- Care is provided in clients living environment with varying situations including private home, independent or assisted living or in an institution such as a hospital or long-term care facility.
- May be required to respond to emergency situations.
- Position includes tasks that have the potential for exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues and other potentially infectious material such as body fluids/tissues.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Corrected visual and hearing acuity required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred
- Successful competition of a minimum of 75 hours of training and competency evaluation program or Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation approved by the state.
- Must be a Kansas-certified C.N.A and must possess a certificate of course competition.
- Must be free from health problems that may be injurious to patient, self, and coworkers and must present appropriate evidence to substantiate this.
- Must comprehend the basics of personal care, housekeeping, and meal preparation.
- Must be CPR certified. Online CPR certification not accepted.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check.
