PROJECT CREW LEAD | ONE HAT ONE HAND

Overview

Project Crew Leads work to complete the project within the timeline and the budgeted hours, they assist in the organization of fabrication and installation with the project team. They work hands-on in fabrication and installation, coordinate goals with the Project Manager, Designer, and Project Foreman, and are often the Lead Installer of the project. Quality assurance is a prime focus of this role.

Position in Organization

• Reports To: Project Forman
• Shared Responsibility For: Organizing production crew for Fabrication & Installation per project, including time tracking, material procurement, quality control, and client interaction.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintains clear lines of communication with the Project Manager and acts as a liaison to crew.
• Assists in organizing and communicating daily goals with project team.
• Provides EOD reports on status of communicated goals. Pictorial documentation included. 
• Determine and maintain quality assurance of projects. 
• Ensure that health and safety regulations are met, including PPE, OSHA regulations, and meal breaks.
• Consult with Designers and PM’s to ensure feasibility of designs.
• Clearly communicates with crew and shares necessary drawings, materials and support.
• Works in conjunction with the Project Team and Scheduler to organize production schedules (labor and timeline) and shop space considerations. Including: organization of specific crew members to adjust for project efficiencies, problem solving, & the compatibility of the crew.
• Holds responsibility for the work of the team that they lead.
• Organization of project materials. 
• Maintain project timeline with project team, flag issues and needed changes.
• Participate in and contribute to the install plan and install meeting.
• Oversee install, and contribute to labor and equipment needs. 
• Oversee strike, if needed. 
• Work with the Facilities Team to keep or dispose of materials and fabricated items.
• Participates in Post Project Review after completion.
• Note: at times this role will perform duties not in a leadership position.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proficient knowledge of multidisciplinary fabrication techniques.
• Understanding of and experience with: all construction hand tools, power tools & most materials.
• Ability to meet difficult deadlines at a fast pace.
• Knowledge of commercial construction schedules, procedures and protocols.
• The ability to express ideas clearly and build on the ideas of others.
• Understanding of standardized build drawings, blueprints and instructions.
• Advanced self organizational skills.
• Logistical awareness & the ability to coordinate conflicting priorities.
• Well developed communication skills, social awareness, and empathy.
• Management and leadership skills.
• Heavy equipment experience a must - IE: Scissor lift, Forklift, Other
• Basic Rigging knowledge

Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors 

• Ability to lift 50 lbs and to carry equipment and supplies as needed.
• Indoor warehouse environment with moderate to loud noise.
• Long hours for install and strike, as needed. 
• Travel for installations as necessary.
• Understands the responsibility of protecting oneself and crew from hazards and toxic materials by using safety equipment such as skin, eye, hearing and breathing protection.
