PRODUCTION MANAGER

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK

In our organization, the Production Manager has a critical and challenging role in helping achieve innovation and meeting commitments by planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, quantity, and delivery specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage valve assembly operations to include but not limited to, production management, ensuring Valve Assembly employees have all tools, components, test procedures, & equipment to perform assigned tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Direct and coordinate all production and testing operations.
  • Responsible for managing and minimizing all the OSI-OKC Piper past due order listings.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, discharge staff, and resolve employee relations issues in coordination with the Operations Manager and Human Resources.
  • Lead the production meeting to coordinate operations among the Operations, Quality, and Sales groups to facilitate smooth and timely processing of orders through the manufacturing process.
  • Review operations and confer with other departments as needed to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory accuracy, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments while considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Develop and/or refine shop work process to streamline all elements of production while ensuring complete compliance with HSE and OSHA policies and practices.
  • Perform all tasks as required of a Safety Sensitive position.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement production tracking and sustain quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and other operational reports, to detect and anticipate production problems.
  • Make recommendations with the goal of reducing valve assembly time, reducing testing time, and/or increasing safety. Such recommendations may include the acquisition of equipment.
  • Become familiar with company accounting and manufacturing software and incorporate that software into the material handing process from purchase of raw material to finished components.
  • Become familiar with manufacturing theory such as Lean and/or Six Sigma and how such theory may be adapted to our operation.
  • Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Participate in research & development activities as required.
  • Effectively and efficiently use time to safely perform duties.
  • Complete all paperwork in required manner and time frame.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn to produce new products, use new procedures, and embrace and support change.
  • Follow and support established HSE programs.
  • Report any unsafe situations to appropriate Management Team member if necessary.
  • All other duties or tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a demonstrated knowledge of Piper product lines and valve industry standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of the MS Office Suite, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with people.
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years API/ISO valve manufacturing experience. Ball Valve manufacturing knowledge preferred.
  • Two (2) years management experience preferred.

OR

      • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
      • At least nine (9) years direct valve manufacturing experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain active Level 2 OKC Piper certification to operate Class II forklifts and Class IV forklifts and train others as forklift operators for both classes.
  • Must obtain and maintain active OKC Piper certification to operate cranes and train other crane operators.
  • Must obtain and maintain Authorized Driver status as defined by the Oil States Company Vehicles and Drivers policy.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Extended walking, sitting, and/or standing.

Tools and Equipment Used

  • Frequent use of computer equipment to include but not limited to laptop computer, monitors, keyboard, mouse, scanner, printer, and computerized data acquisition hardware.
  • Frequent use of company designated software programs to include but not limited to ERP, project time tracking software, employee time tracking software, office productivity software packages, and data acquisition software.
  • Periodic use of various hand and power tools to include but not limited to air and hydraulic torque tools.
  • Oversight of employee use of overhead cranes and other lifting devices including but not limited to 1/2-ton cranes, 1-ton cranes, 5-ton cranes, and associated rigging.
  • Oversight of employee use of Class II and Class IV forklifts.
  • Oversight of employee use of high-pressure gas and liquid testing equipment.
  • Potential to drive company vehicles or personal vehicles for business purposes.

Quality/Customer Service Implications

  • Immediately and directly impacts quality of product through direct oversight and supervision of all valve assembly and valve testing operations.
  • Directly impacts product realization and product availability through planning and budgeting for the various product and order realization processes.
  • Directly impacts workplace safety through active participation in OKC Piper HSE programs and safe work practices.
  • Indirect oversight of all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs and their implementation into the valve assembly area.
  • Indirectly impacts customer satisfaction through product quality, product appearance, and on-time delivery.

Safety Sensitive Position

This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive Position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act.
