Oil States Houma is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Project Manager Intern I in Houma, Louisiana.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is to gives students an opportunity to experience real world career goals by achieving outlined expectations. The focus of the Internship program is to provide students with valuable work experiences and an insight to the Oil States Houma facility and products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with day-to-day functions of Project Management including attending weekly meetings, updating project schedules/progress, budget evaluations, internal/external customer requests and risk mitigations.
  • Shadow and assist Project Managers on daily activities.
  • Gain real world experience in heavy equipment manufacturing processes and reporting by working hands on in the Fabrication, Assembly, and Machine Shop.
  • Review project, product or service specifications, purchase orders, contracts and commercial terms.
  • Become familiar with computer assisted scheduling software and budget monitoring programs. This will include Microsoft Projects and Microsoft Excel.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working in a team environment with all departments of manufacturing, as well as engineering.
  • Assist in gathering information to provide project status reports and revenue forecasting.
  • Meet with mentor once every week to review objectives learned and set expectations.
  • Work in the shop performing hands on work 3-4 days a week. 
  • Shadowing a Project Manager 1-2 days a week. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited business or management degree program.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software.
  • Must have 1 year or 2 semesters of course work completed.
  • Good mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow and relay detailed instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged sitting.
  • Walking, standing, sitting and occasionally lifting of up to 45 pounds.
  • Occasional periods in non-climate controlled work environment
