Occidental Management is Hiring an IT Support Specialist Near Wichita, KS

IT Support Specialist - Job Summary
Occidental Management, Inc. is searching for an experienced full-time IT Support Specialist to provide general support and training to end users within our organization. This position will ensure that we make optimal use of our hardware and software technologies, enhance system performance, and secure our data. The IT Support Specialist will also act as an in-house technology consultant and responsible for reviewing, assessing, and proposing new technology solutions to meet the company’s objectives.
Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience in providing information technology support to end-users at varying levels of technology experience within a fast-paced environment. Most work will be completed independently, but the IT Support Specialist will also assist and coordinate large scale projects with our third-party IT service provider as needed. This is an on-site position that reports to our office located in downtown Wichita, KS. The normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to end-users and resolve hardware and software issues.
Develop and implement end-user training (individual and group) on software and hardware functionality; prepare training and reference aids.
Monitor hardware, software, and system performance; update computer software and assist with hardware and systems upgrades.
Administer Active Directory and Office 365, including user account management and email configuration.
Assist third-party vendors with daily infrastructure administration and maintenance.
Maintain databases and ensure system security.
Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps; document processes and perform diagnostic tests.
Participate in system backups, disaster recovery planning, and system monitoring.
Assist third-party vendors with various special IT Department projects and other duties as assigned.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IT support advancements and trends.

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit for long periods of time while working at a desk or participating in meetings.
Frequently uses hands to perform repetitive motions such as typing or using a mouse to perform work.
Ability to see details at close range (within 5 feet) such as on a computer monitor when working with marketing content or sending an e-mail.
Ability to lift, carry, or manipulate items up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
Ability to traverse uneven terrain or climb stairs while performing assigned job duties as in when setting up a workstation or transporting equipment to different areas of the building.
Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Work Environment and Conditions
This role reports to an indoor, climate-controlled office environment with minimal environmental noise. Frequently required to interact with others through phone calls, e-mail, or in-person. While this position has some freedom to manage assignments, a portion of the work is driven by end-user needs and is outside the control of the incumbent. May occasionally travel using a company-owned vehicle to perform local errands or travel to other sites in Overland Park, KS. May occasionally be required to work outside of normal business hours to complete work.
Experience, Education, and Credentials
Required
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline; OR
A minimum of 5 years working in a similar role with sequential and progressive increases in responsibility and autonomy.
Proficiency administering: Microsoft O365, Azure, on-prem active directory, Windows operating systems, DNS and DHCP network services; exchange mail online (mailbox, distribution lists, SPAM filtering, and shared mailboxes).
Experience developing and conducting end user training sessions and creating visual training and reference aids.
Experience documenting processes and monitoring system performance metrics.
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
Preferred
CompTIA A , CompTIA Network , and/or CompTIA Security
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
