Ob Hospitalist Group is Hiring an Assistant Director of Operations Near Greenville, SC

Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for working collaboratively with Site Directors, Market Medical Directors and operations/clinical leadership, is responsible for, but not limited to, supporting the operational performance, client account management, and overall management oversight of OBHG’s hospitalist programs within their assigned geographic area of responsibility. The Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for maintaining collaborative relationships within and outside the hospital organization and for creating effective working relationships between OBHG stakeholders and clinicians. The role will report to OBHG’s Senior Director of Operations. The Assistant Director of Operations will work effectively within their region’s larger matrix organization including support team members. The Assistant Director of Operations is primarily responsible for managing staffing and premium labor, overseeing the recruiting and onboarding process for clinicians, a point of escalation for credentialing and scheduling challenges, relationship management of our OSA practices, oversight of invoices with OSA practices and hospital partners. The Assistant Director of Operations will be an extension to the Senior Director of Operations and support the overall goal of delivering value to our clients and clinicians through leading the day to day tactical operations for each assigned site with minimal oversight from the Senior Director of Operations.

Position Responsibilities: Essential

  • Builds, develops and manages operational relationships capable of achieving the goals of OBHG and the partner hospital, as well as community physician practices.
    • Facilitates the successful and timely implementation of new OBHG programs with the assistance from the OBHG Partnership Success Manager and support team.
  • Lead and coordinate support services and management resources in order to meet performance objectives and expectations including, but not limited to:
      • Assisting Scheduler and/or Site Director with OBHG clinician schedule
      • OBED setup, policies, compliance and other items during onboarding and lifecycle of client
      • OSA billing questions from hospital and community physicians
      • Follow up for timely payment for OBHG OSA or hospital invoices
      • New OBHG clinician onboarding: Proactively work with matrix team to ensure all necessary items are complete for clinician to start and minimize delay in start dates. Lead staffing calls and make sound decisions for interim staffing solutions and creatively problem solve with recruiting for pipeline generation.
      • Management of premium labor to budget as much as possible
  • Promotes and ensures delivery of the OBHG unique value proposition with the hospital partner leadership, and other influential hospital stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Identify areas where OBHG can help our hospital partners improve operations or business development
    • Understand the financial and operational impacts of program changes as well as pricing. 
    • Financial review of program- responsible for making decisions to support the premium labor KPIs and support meeting budget on expense management
    • Lead solution development efforts that best address each hospital needs while coordinating the necessary involvement the internal OBHG personnel.
      • Collections of life saves/testimonials (shared with Site Director)
      • Identify and / or support Business development opportunities to identify growth opportunities and develop strategic initiatives plan in effort to grow women’s line. (OSA, coverage for MFM).
      • Work with the Marketing departments of OBHG and the partner hospital regarding press releases and marketing material
  • Evaluate operational issues to determine whether OBHG remains competitive and staying current with the latest trends in healthcare delivery and share your findings with the Senior Director of Operations and/or Medical Director Operations.
  • Responsible for or participates in special projects and other administrative responsibilities as assigned.

Other Responsibilities and Relationships

  • Directs and participates with internal committees, task forces and affiliated organizations, as requested.
  • Meet and communicate regularly with Senior Director of Operations on any and all operational issues that may be considered as potentially damaging to the client relationship or clinician experience
  • Develops strong working relationship with all clinical leaders for sites and works collaboratively to make decisions together in line with overall mission and site goals
  • Represents the organization to external organizations as required.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.

Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or other related field or equivalent experience. Master’s Degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or other related field 
  • 1 to 3 years of operations management in the healthcare/medical services industry.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task across up to 30 sites and manage multiple operational challenges simultaneously
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency and ability to prioritize competing demands across stakeholders and sites
  • Requires interpersonal and relationship building skills to be able to interact effectively with all levels of hospital staff, medical staff, patients, governmental and other external agencies, members of the general public in sensitive, delicate and/or complex situations. Must be able to make effective presentations before a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Strong problem solving skills necessary to prioritize assignments and make decisions in the best interest of the company and patient care
  • Ability to think outside the box and collaborate with matrix team/clinical leadership for creative solutions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with constant growth

Preferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education

  • Preferred Obstetrical experience and/or physician practice management experience.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Preferred understanding of medical terminology.

Mental and Physical Demands (per ADA guidelines)

  • Physical Demands: Sitting for long periods of time. Occupation requires this activity more than 66% of the time (2.6 hrs/day).
  • Travel Demands: Minimal air and land travel between corporate headquarters

Annual Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000
