Description

SUMMARY

Primary responsibilities center on reviewing past-due loans accounts and initiating collection efforts, as directed by the bank’s policy, by telephone, letter or in person. Responsible for various property inspection photos; initiating collection legal actions; and interacts with attorneys on loan issues. Position carries no supervisory duties.

Typical Schedule - Full Time, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is required to ensure adequate staffing.

ESSENTIAL COLLECTION FUNCTIONS:

  • Contacting past due borrowers via telephone, correspondence, or visits;
  • Document delinquent loan files and update collection comments on the core;
  • Send collection letters or Act 91 notices when necessary;
  • Interact with Bank counsel with regard to delinquent loans; and any legal action with past due accounts, and monthly update of legal status for Board meeting;
  • Present updates to the Board of Directors on past due loans, typically once per month;
  • Work with customer on loans that have matured but a balance still exists;
  • Send proper paper work to customer and attorney; write checks for fees and go to sheriff sales; show/make arrangements for sale of bought back (OREO) properties;
  • Performs property inspections and obtains photos for construction and/or foreclosure/OREO properties; inspect and document damage to properties before release of insurance checks to customer;
  • Send paperwork to attorney on property to be repossessed; send proper notices to customer after repossession and sell collateral;
  • File complaints with Magistrate and attend hearings in debtor defends;
  • Manages the Bankruptcy process and required actions when notified;
  • Manages the handling of deceased borrower loan accounts; works with Estate/Attorneys/Successors;
  • Perform Department of Defense searches for delinquent borrowers, prior to foreclosure;
  • Assist in managing the identification, monitoring, and tracking of SCRA or MLA loans;
  • Prepares tickets or batches for collection related expenses, and maintains cost log;
  • Researches tax sales to make sure bank properties are paid to date;
  • Come up with a plan for repayment on loan loss accounts;
  • Image loan documents or save to Electronic Documentation system;
  • Ensure CORE is reporting to the Credit Bureaus properly; and work with Loan Ops personnel for proper identification for reporting purposes;
  • Required to ensure all Collection/Loan Servicing/Credit Reporting/and lending related laws/regulations are followed;
  • Responsible for 1099 Reporting
  • Answer telephone when needed and assist customers with loan information;
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job;
  • Participate in and/or complete all necessary bank training;
  • Required to maintain the strictness of confidentiality in all matters;
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures;
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Exceptional communication skills with an enhanced social perceptiveness and a service-oriented disposition;
  • Knowledge of computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word);
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information and issues relating to the bank’s customers, policies, and personnel;
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, and meeting quality standards for services;
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures.
