The City Of Marion Is Seeking A Dynamic And Seasoned Human Resources Professional To Join Its Team. The Human Resources Director Position Is New To Our City And Is Being Added In Recognition Of Our Growing Community And The Need To Give More Focused Attention To Our Greatest Asset In Providing Quality City Services – Our Employees. Marion Currently Has 111 Full-time Positions And Several Part-time Positions. The City Has An Excellent Reputation As A Well-run And Fiscally Responsible Local Government. The Position Plans, Organizes, Develops, Modifies, Implements, And Administers A Variety Of Human Resources Programs Designed To Help The City Achieve Its Mission And Vision. Responsibilities Include Policy Development, Classification And Compensation, Employee Relations, Training And Organizational Development, Recruitment And Selection, Benefits Management, Performance Management And Evaluation, Safety And Risk Management, And Personnel Records Management. The Position Requires An Understanding Of Organizational Development; Human Behavior; Organizational Psychology; The Laws And Regulations Affecting The HR Management Field; The Development Of Programs And Policy Interpretation And Application; And The Use Of Sound Judgment In Decision-making And Problem Solving. The Position Is A Member Of The Management Team And Reports Directly To The City Manager And Supervises A Seasoned HR Administrator With Strong Knowledge Of HR Processes, Procedures And Payroll. Desirable Qualifications Include A Bachelor’s Degree In Human Resources, Public Or Business Administration, Or Related Field; Five To Seven Years Of Progressively Responsible And Broad-based Experience In Governmental Or Private Industry HR; Or An Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience. IPMA-CP And/or SHRM-CP Preferred. Hiring Range: $69,231-$85,000. Marion Is Nestled In The Foothills Of Western North Carolina, Where Main Street Meets The Mountains, And Is Home To A Vibrant Downtown Filled With Retail Shops, Restaurants, Breweries And More.
