North Carolina Dept of Transportation is Hiring an Administrative Associate I Near UNKNOWN, NC

Description of Work

This is a temporary position. There are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position.
Salary range is $15.00 to $17.00 per hour.

This position will serve as part of the Administrative Staff assigned to the Transportation Planning Division main office.

The Administrative Associate-I performs various clerical duties which will include typing, filing, copying, and answering telephone calls. The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. The Administrative Associate must have knowledge of data collection and be able to compile, assimilate, and organize printed and electronic information. This position will be responsible with the day-to-day operations.

The Administrative Associate-I must have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, comprehensive organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Planning Director or the Administrative Officer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Experience in record keeping.
  • Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation, and proofreading.
  • Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws.
Additional Expectations: Knowledge in state government related personnel policies, procedures, and programs. Must have the ability to work closely with others and possess good communication skills, both orally and in writing. Must have computer experience including Word and Excel; experience with SAP/BEACON is preferred.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or higher; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
