North Carolina Adult Correction is Hiring an Administrative Associate II Near UNKNOWN, NC

Description of Work

Reporting to the Administrative department, this is a mission critical position which performs a variety of office and/or technical tasks, to accomplish the specialized processing of information, documents, and/or materials. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensuring the efficient and timely processing of offender and staff mail in compliance with established policies and procedures, including packaging materials for shipping, handling heavy packages and parcel posts.
  • Processing and logging all incoming and outgoing mail, receiving incoming shipments of supplies, materials, and equipment, operating a state vehicle, and communicating both orally and in writing with offenders, staff, government officials, management, and the general public.
  • Receiving telephone calls from other staff, department personnel, community volunteers, citizens, press, offenders’ attorneys and families, and other agencies regarding mail.
  • Working independently and under general supervision with routine evaluation of job performance.
  • Delivering and picking up US Mail, Interoffice mail, and Courier mail on a scheduled basis including being outside to deliver and retrieve mail in inclement weather conditions.?
  • Operating a computer to include Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Lifting, pulling, and pushing more than 10 pounds to move large bins of mail and/or packages.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

This posting is for multiple vacancies: positions 60059466 and 60059468 and both positions are expected to be available on March 25, 2024.

About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff, as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

About Scotland Correctional Institution:
Scotland Correctional Institution is located in Laurinburg, North Carolina and houses up to 1.756 male offenders in a close, medium, and minimum custody facility.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies


To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
