North Carolina Dept of Health and Human Services is Hiring an Accounting Technician II Near UNKNOWN, NC

Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to operate the facility business office on a daily basis. This includes all facility accounting duties, reports and records kept by the facility accounting office, biweekly client payroll, and all records and reports connected with these duties.

This position maintains accountability and accuracy in all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to include invoicing, receiving payments, daily deposits, filing North Carolina sales and use tax. Issuing purchase orders, reconciling shipments with purchase orders, coding invoices for budget, communicating with vendors when necessary to solve issues, assuring all data is updated in QuickBooks accounting software for all NCAS transactions by the 10th of the following month, reconciling p-card transactions on NCAS and ensuring that P-card policy and procedure is followed for administrative p-card holders.

This position is responsible for preparation of the bi-weekly payroll, corresponding with the Controller’s Office regarding payroll issues, corresponding with instructors on issues concerning accuracy and assurance of policy and procedure compliance, monitoring computer software to ensure proper use of electronic time clocks on campus, issuing electronic time cards, ensuring compliance of Wage and Hour regulations as set by the US Dept. of Labor, filing and maintaining proper records in the Business Office.

This position also acts as assistant and backup for Business Officer in support of Business Office Operations to include budget review and maintenance, decision making, corresponding with customers on printing/catering jobs, and assisting facility director with day-to-day business operations

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of accounting experience;

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
