NORC at the University of Chicago is Hiring a Business Development Analyst Bethesda Hybrid Near Bethesda, MD

JOB SUMMARY:

NORC at the University of Chicago seeks to hire a Market Research Analyst (MRA) in its Business Development Office. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in empirical social science and public policy research and understand market research methodologies, with a particular emphasis on the federal and state government procurement process.

DEPARTMENT:

The Office of Business Development (OBD) identifies and disseminates key information regarding prospective clients and business opportunities. OBD staff also support proposal preparation, maintain a proposal database, and coordinate proposal process improvements across NORC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the MRA include understanding the needs for professional research, data management, and technical assistance services of governments, foundations, and other entities. The MRA supports business development efforts by working with research teams and individual researchers to assess needs; using public information sources to research existing and new leads; assessing NORC’s prior project work and proposal writing for relevance to new opportunities; supporting the business development team in gathering, analyzing, and reporting market intelligence and business development information; writing proposal sections or other documents as needed, including completing proposal forms and registrations.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college/university.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in market research or in other areas of NORC activity
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently from start to finish and provide insight
  • Ability to contribute insight to discussions based on independent research across varying topic areas
  • Ability to put together detailed research reports and presentations based on data, identifying specific insights, and providing recommendations
  • Ability to effectively interact with colleagues and communicate effectively across teams
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize large quantities of information using business intelligence tools
  • Ability to synthesize information and use strong communication skills when presenting the results
  • Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills are essential. Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Tableau, and Adobe Creative Suite programs is desirable but not required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The pay range for this position is $53,000 – $80,000.

This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
