As a Field Technician, you will provide hardware/software/structured (CAT3,5,6) & fiber optic cabling technical service and support, installation, configuration, and problem resolution in a PC/network/infrastructure environment. You will complete proper inventory and asset recording processes prior to and during delivery and complete appropriate paperwork as required for customer acceptance. On a daily basis you will travel to customer locations within a region, so a flexible work schedule is a must. Structured cabling experience should include the ability to run all cable types via pathways (conduit, drop ceiling, wire mold, etc). Terminate cabling on the appropriate hardware (jacks, patch panel, both 66 type and 110 type). The ability to install voice and data connections, along with the ability to troubleshoot techniques to identify issues with structure cabling and fiber optic cabling.

Key Responsibilities

The Field Services Technician is primarily responsible for:

  • Install, configure and support new hardware and software infrastructure
  • Ensure that hardware and software systems are maintained
  • Provide technical support to users with very different levels of IT knowledge and competence
  • Perform onsite cabling tasks, including cable runs, terminations, installation, pathway cable trays, equipment racks and troubleshooting
  • Act as the liaison between nfrastructure team and the customer
  • Travel to customer locations and possess a flexible work schedule, this may require overnight stays
  • Conduct client conversations regarding service requests and project requirements.
  • Complete project closeout deliverable packages such as pictures, checklists, audits and test results
  • Maybe responsible for operating company vehicle
  • Other duties as assigned

We are seeking candidates with the following experience and skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent Associate’s Degree preferred and at least 2 years’ experience with PC systems, related peripherals, structure cabling, and common software programs and Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with standard Windows O/S and Office suites
  • Ability to thoroughly and accurately perform inventory and asset recording and complete paperwork as required by customer, including vendor warranties
  • Ability to perform final configuration tasks on customer premise
  • 2 years’ experience with desktop hardware
  • 2 years’ experience with structure cabling
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • BICSI copper and fiber installer certifications, other manufacturer certifications
  • Industry knowledge of standards such as BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, local and national electric codes
  • The ability and willingness to travel (including a weekend departure, traveling during off-hours, and frequent overnight stays)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work from ladders, lifts and heights

Qualified candidates can expect a salary range of $26-$28.

Note: Compensation is benchmarked on local California area market rates. Qualified candidates in other locations can expect a salary package that may be adjusted based off applicable cost of wages in their respective location.
