The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Finance and Procurement has a full time vacancy for Accountant I.

SUMMARY:

Performs accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining fiscal procedures, for the Accounts Receivable Unit within the Office of Finance, which is responsible for the collection, recording and reconciling of all revenue incurred department-wide for DHHS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares cash receipts to accurately record revenue for all divisions of DHHS.

Investigates inquiries from other divisions regarding daily record of cash receipts.

Develops financial and statistical reports as requested by financial managers and unit management. Makes recommendations as appropriate.

Posts transactions and maintains accuracy of the check status request database.

Performs revenue transfers and transfer of expenses to ensure proper distribution of revenue and expenses.

Develops and maintains procedural instructions relating to position responsibilities.

Posts deposits into the Revolving Fund account to ensure proper distribution of services or benefits for children in state placement.

Records payments into financial subsystems to document receipt of funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in accounting or business administration. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: One year's experience in accounting or auditing work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification: None required.
