ACCOUNTANT I - Inventory Control

The State of New Hampshire, Liquor Commission has a vacancy for a Full time Accountant I.
Summary:
Maintain control of all liquor and wine inventory (stores, warehouses, in-transit) and oversee the inventory accounting procedures. Reviews computer output for data and human errors affecting the inventory. Applies manual and computerized procedures to detect and correct problems.
Responsibilities:
Detects inventory errors and researches to determine the cause. Follows up on corrections performed by appropriate section of the Liquor Commission: store personnel, warehouse personnel, IT personnel or self.
Monitor data passing through the system for completeness, accuracy and proper application.
Monitors weekly cycle inventory, making adjustment as authorized by the Auditing Administrator.
Coordinates the quarterly and year end inventories for all stores together with store operations and both Concord & Bow warehouses. Prepares and presents inventory reports to senior management, supervisors and store managers.
Reconciles inventory and determine inventory adjustment based on physical counts reported by stores and warehouses.
Monitor load discrepancy on a daily basis and provides instructions to the store or warehouse on the appropriate corrective action.
Monitor in-transit report (shipping and receiving) to ensure all inventory is moving properly throughout the state.
Reconciles Lottery inventory between Lottery and all stores.
Researches and settles inventory claims between the Liquor Commission and private entities.
Collects, compiles and prepares raw statistical data into reports and ensures supporting documentation supports reports.
Develops and maintains processes for all aspects of job function to comply with state.
Provides support to office and store personnel in the use of the inventory computer systems.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree
36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree
54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in accounting or business administration. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: One year's experience in accounting or auditing work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: None required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
For appointment consideration, Accountant I requires that applicants successfully participate in a written examination measuring possession of knowledge, skills and abilities identified as necessary for satisfactory job performance by this class specification.
Verbal and written communications are required. Direct contact, the telephone and E-mail are extensively used. Formal presentations are occasionally required. Required to work some overtime on holidays, year-end inventory, fiscal year-end processing. Must make many independent decisions.
