POSITION SUMMARY: Full Time 40 hours per week
Under medical supervision, assists physicians in the delivery of health care services; and performs related duties as required. The medical assistant is responsible for providing the highest quality of care for our patients and assisting with administrative/clinical duties at Caya Health.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
Discuss daily schedule with the provider prior to the start of the of the day.
Prepares patient charts for upcoming appointments.
Assist with check-in and appointment confirmation 24 hours prior to appointment time.
Conduct complete patient vital signs including weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, Oxygen levels and records them in the EMR system.
Assist health care provider with treatments and examinations of patients such as injections, EKG?s, pelvic exams, pap smear, suture removals and other treatments requiring assistance.
Obtain updated medication list from patients and update medication list in EMR patient chart.
Prepares providers orders and appropriate requisition forms as needed.
Performs calls to pharmacy regarding prescription refills and or prior authorizations.
Notifies patients in a timely manner of any changes ordered by the provider.
Ensures the physician signs the charts, labs, prescriptions, and diagnostic orders daily.
Complies with office policies and procedures, OSHA standards, HIPPA privacy regulations as stated in the HIPPA policy.
Assist with drawing blood/labs and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis pick up.
Triage patient calls during operating hours and from on call center after hours.
Assists clinical departments with rooming patients as needed.
Billing, Collecting Copayments
Ensures the proper insurance carrier and/or grant is billed for the services provided by checking eligibility, proper billing codes are used for the services provided and notes have been completed.
Audits and ensures the proper billing codes are used for the services provided.
Ensures notes have been completed and signed by the provider.
Responsible for tracking daily charges and coverage.
Responsible for educating providers on the process of entering charges into Next Gen system.
Review discrepancies in billing or notes with the corresponding provider to determine if any corrections are needed.
Check for incoming faxes from outside facilities.
Responsible for providing billing updates to providers.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including, but not limited to, those within the compliance process, Standards of Conduct, HIPAA, State Licensure and JCAHO.
Participates in required orientation, ethics, and HIPAA training programs.
Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
? High School Diploma or higher degree
? Medical Assistant Certification (Preferred)
? Basic medical terminology and arithmetic
? Satisfactory vein puncture technique
? Knowledge of and/or experience with customer service in a health care setting
? Experience with medical software and Microsoft Office Products.
? knowledge of health care payers such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial.
? Patient registration and insurance verification/eligibility experience.
? Detail oriented with effective verbal and written communication skills.
? Must be flexible and enjoy working in a changing environment.
