Job Summary:

The role of the Remote Medical Assistant is to support day to day operations by performing administrative tasks and ensuring high quality customer service for your providers & patients. This is s non-clinical position. As a Medical Assistant, you will perform various tasks on a daily basis, handle sensitive information confidentially, multitask and prioritize. 

Primary Functions:

1. Customer service skills and telephone etiquette
2. Familiarity with medical terms and technology
3. Understanding of law and ethics pertaining to medical practices
4. Strong computer, data entry and office management skills
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Empathy and compassion to give support to patients
7. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
8. Patient Care Coordination
9. Scheduling Meetings
10. Summit Billing Reports
11. Faxing/Mailing Orders
12. Maintaining Providers Schedule
13. Liaison between Hospital and Providers
14. Communicating with PCPs
15. Answer all incoming calls
16. Data Entry
17. Patient Chart Review
18. Communication with Operations Team

Education, Training, Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent .
2. Customer Service experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
2. Show initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability
3. Ability to collaborate with colleagues to provide quality healthcare
4. Ability to work under pressure
5. Computer literacy
6. Must be personable

Additional Qualifications:

1. Prior experience using an electronic medical records system (EMR)
2. Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred

Relationship Reporting:

1. Reports to the Executive Director

Physical Requirements:

1. Communicate effectively with patients and staff
2. Be able to sit, stand or view a computer screen for extended periods of time
3. Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time
4. Be able to use hand and fingers to handle or feel
5. Be able to reach with hands and arms
