POSITION SUMMARY
The Driver Manager is responsible for communicating scheduled loads, in advance via e-mail, McLeod software and phone with approximately 30 – 35 drivers delivering multi-state loads over the road on flatbed trucks. The Driver Manager acts as a liaison with Customer Service regarding available drivers and the scheduling of loads to be picked up and delivered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinating and communicating with drivers to ensure deliveries and pickups are made on time.
• Work with Customer Service Representatives to coordinate the drivers’ schedule.
• Providing customer service and support to drivers, on the phone and email, as needed.
• Documenting communication into software, utilizing spreadsheets as needed.
• Monitoring driver safety and legal compliance, including hours of service.
• Monitoring preventative maintenance status and notifying drivers.
• Working closely with the Maintenance Department to assist drivers with breakdown issues.
• Researching and making arrangements to obtain permits.
• Other duties, as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree (4 year) or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Customer service skills, including actively listening, thorough and consistent follow up, coupled with a friendly disposition.
• Ability to articulate and exchange information consistently and thoroughly.
• Detail oriented, with ability to multi-task, in a fast-paced work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office product suite.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
