Montgomery County Government is Hiring a Fiscal Assistant (Accounts Payable), Grade 16 Near Rockville, MD

The Department of Finance is responsible for the financial administration of the County government, including accounting and payroll, debt and cash management, tax billing and revenue collection, economic and revenue forecasting, and risk management. The Department is seeking to fill a Fiscal Assistant position in Accounts Payable.

Fiscal Assistants in the Accounts Payable Section are responsible for ensuring the timely accurate review, evaluation, determination of propriety, and processing of all non-payroll related disbursements. The selected candidate will ensure that the preparation and processing of disbursement transactions are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and that any issues, discrepancies, or errors arising from the processing of these transactions are investigated and resolved. The employee will audit and evaluate transactions and ensure propriety and completeness. The incumbent will perform reconciliations.

Fiscal Assistants are Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the Oracle Financial Modules and assist departments with Oracle Financial transactions, such as: payment invoice processing; purchasing, iExpense, General Ledger, Project and Grant inquiries and transactions.

A criminal background and credit history check will be conducted on the selected candidate prior to appointment and will be a significant factor in the hiring decision.

Minimum Qualifications


Experience
: Four (4) years of progressively responsible, fiscally related clerical experience (e.g., posting journal entries, processing fiscal actions using automated systems) including demonstrated proficiency with integrated word processing and spreadsheet functions.

Education: Completion of an Associate of Arts degree with a major in accounting or completion of 12 acceptable college credit hours in accounting.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

  • Experience in a high-volume Accounts Payable organization with a primary focus on matching invoices to receiving records and Purchase Order (PO).
  • Experience with proficient data entry.
  • Experience using all Microsoft applications.
