Summer Intern – Mechanical Engineering

Monod Bio is a pioneer company in de novo protein biosensors and reporters. Our innovative platform uses the most recent advances in computational protein engineering to create highly modular biosensing nano-switches. Our technology enables rapid, sensitive, and inexpensive analytical assays: our visionary founding team and state-of-the-art technology position Monod Bio at the forefront of biosensor innovation.

We are proud to offer a full-time paid internship that will provide meaningful experiential learning and exposure to cutting edge technology. This is a full-time (40 hours per week during standard business hours) opportunity to take place during the summer months of 2024.

Among other things, in this internship you will:

• Design, prototype, and test components and sub-assemblies for a point-of-care diagnostic device and microfluidic cartridge.
• Develop test plans and perform testing to ensure the design meets requirements. Design and build any necessary test systems or fixtures.
• Work side-by-side with talented team members in our state-of-the-art lab and office.

Ideal qualifications we seek in an intern include:

• In pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Solid modeling with SolidWorks; Programming with Arduino and/or STM is desirable but not required.
• Experience with a variety of rapid prototyping technologies.
• Design experience with mechanical and electro-mechanical (e.g., stepper motors, pneumatic pumps, solenoid valves, resistive heating, fans) components.
• Previous experience working in a regulated industry, e.g., medical device.
