Position Summary:
Sells steel product and related items and services to businesses and industrial establishments or individuals by performing duties.
Key Responsibilities:
• Includes the following, but other duties may be assigned that are not listed within this description.
• Provide customers sales service by phone, fax, email, or walk-in.
• Attains appropriate customer information: Name, Company, address, phone number, purchase order, or job number if required.
• Writes down information that customer relays in placing their order.
• Asks appropriate questions to fill the customer order and to process the request accurately.
• Check inventory of items ordered and inform purchasing of any possible shortages.
• Confirm delivery or will call date with customer.
• Type and enter information gathered in the computer software provided and generate the required paperwork, shipping order, shipping memo, packing list, sales order, credit memo, and work orders for processing.
• Add required additional information to shippers and or work orders and place the appropriate location for delivery, will call, or processing.
• Inform customers immediately of any changes, problems, or delays.
• Price out or quote customer when requested.
• Maintain accurate records of orders taken, quotes given, and repeat orders from regular customers.
• Keep work area and equipment neat, clean, organized, and safe.
• Performs tasks outside normal job description and assists other departments and employees in order to provide the customer with the best quality service possible.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; computer keyboard speed and accuracy equal to 45 wpm; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence via mail, email, or fax. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read measuring tools such as tape measure, sheet gauge, protractor, square, calipers, and micrometer.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a typical temperature controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment. Some positions may be assigned to remote locations. Positions may require occasional overtime or weekend work and travel is rare. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
