About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director, Accounting to join its Financial Control team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organization's day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate record-keeping and internal and external customer satisfaction. This role involves team management, including setting and implementing the vision for the accounting sub-team, and overseeing operational aspects such as accounts payable, credit card expenses, and fixed assets. The Managing Director will also be tasked with managing the monthly financial close process, monitoring cash flow, and establishing strategies for financial systems and processes to optimize their effectiveness.Candidates for the Managing Director, Accounting position must share the company's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in education. A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting is required, with a CPA license or pursuit of such credentials strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of audit experience in public accounting or a combination of audit and accounting management in the private not-for-profit sector. Strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of revenue streams and financial statement line items relevant to higher education institutions, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement are essential. The role also requires the ability to work from the office periodically and to act as the primary liaison with the audit firm.
