Mid-America Christian University is Hiring an Adjunct – School of Mathematics Near Oklahoma, OK

Job Title: Adjunct – School of Mathematics
Division/Department: Mathematics
Reports to: Chair for the School of Mathematics
Location: Main Campus (Oklahoma City, OK)
Position Type: Part-time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours worked Per Week: Course time plus 1.5 office hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY:
Mid-America University seeks a part-time faculty member with in-person and online teaching experience for undergraduate courses in the areas of math (at least college algebra). The applicant must possess a strong Christian background and be willing to participate in Chapel services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach courses within the School of Mathematics as assigned by the Chair
  • Provide quality instruction by following the department’s course syllabus, grading assignments, tracking attendance, and maintaining lab materials as assigned
  • Respond and effectively communicate with the Program Chair on a regular basis
  • Available to teach courses in the timeslots needed to support the goals of the University
  • Assess student performances of the outcomes of the program and provide data to appropriate stakeholders
  • Respond to students, faculty, and staff in a timely manner
  • Utilize current technologies and incorporate current topics as they relate to course materials
  • Support the mission and goals of the University
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess excellent communication, both oral and written and organizational skills necessary to the
  • position
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to work effectively with individuals and groups
  • Must be flexible in scheduling
  • Prefer experience in various teaching delivery formats
  • Prefer teaching experience in math (at least College Algebra) to undergraduate students
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • M.S. or PhD in the area of mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, data analytics, or data science (minimum of 18 hours upper division coursework in the area being taught)
  • Demonstrate effective teaching skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Experience with interactive computer programs (e.g. Zoom)
  • Canvas experience (will train)
