Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health, developmental disability and permanent supported housing services in Dallas County serving over 50,000 children, teens and adults annually. For over 55 years, Metrocare has provided a broad array of services from mental health care, primary care, services for veterans and their loved ones, accessible pharmacies, homeless outreach, and supportive social services. Metrocare provides specialty mental health services to over 10,000 children and teens and has numerous programs for babies, children and adults with disabilities, including Early Childhood Intervention, Flourishing Families, Nurturing Parenting, Supported Employment and two specialty autism clinics in Dallas and DeSoto. In conjunction with clinical care, Metrocare’s Altshuler Center for Education & Research is transforming the community mental health landscape of North Texas through workforce development focused on innovative partnerships and exceptional trauma-informed training.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Metrocare programs focus on the issues that matter most in the lives of the children, families, and adults we serve.

The Training Manager Manages the Training and Development function within Metrocare supporting the continuous development and engagement of Metrocare staff by planning, coordinating, and directing skills- and knowledge-enhancement programs for Metrocare’s staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements training and development policies and programs, which may include technical training, management or organizational development, safety training, train-the-trainer programs, or learning management.
  • Coordinates with line managers to identify skill/knowledge gaps and identify training needs.
  • Develops training courses, curriculum, or materials, and delivers and evaluates training sessions.
  • Selects training tools or training delivery mechanisms, based on the material being taught and the audience being targeted.
  • Coordinates guest trainers or subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Documents employee attendance or performance at mandatory training sessions
  • Assesses training effectiveness and modifies programs to improve results.
  • Oversee training and development staff.
  • Oversight and coordination of training committee.
  • Assess employees’ needs for training.
  • Align training with the organization’sgoals.
  • Create and manage training budgets.
  • Develop and implement training programs.
  • Review and select training materials from a variety of vendors.
  • Update training programs to ensure that they are relevant.
  • Teach training methods and skills to instructors and supervisors.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and instructors.
  • Organize meetings with management before preparing course materials to ensure a detailed understanding of training subjects and processes.
  • Continually research methods and techniques in workplace training and remain up to date on developments within the industry and competitors.
  • Collect information from senior management and other departments regarding how well employees retain information and use the concepts learned in training courses.
  • Administer tests after the completion of training courses to determine the effectiveness of training strategies.
  • Create printed and instructional materials to be distributed during training.
  • Actively seek current training methods and best practices to facilitate training employees.
  • Conduct regular meetings with senior management to identify subjects to be addressed or areas in need of additional instruction.
  • Create internal marketing materials to be distributed throughout the company to announce training programs and details.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or human Resources field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 or more years of experience in corporate training, with 2 years of experience managing a team.
  • Experience analyzing company needs, lesson planning, development, and implementation.
  • Extensive knowledge of teaching theory for creating effective creating instructional materials.
  • Instructional experience in a group business setting.
  • Strong understanding of business goals and standards for customer service
  • Experience developing yearly training plans and materials for all departments throughout the company.

DRIVING REQUIRED:Yes

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to work with reports and numbers.
  • Ability to calculate moderately complex figures and amounts to accurately report activities and budgets.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient using Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain a Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
  • Liability insurance is required if an employee will operate a personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
