Job Details
DescriptionDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with Payroll and Benefit Administration Serves as the liaison between employees and the payroll department, as well as with Agency benefit vendors.
  • General Human Resources – Assist in development, implementation, and administration of personnel policies and procedures. Prepares and maintain employee handbook. Maintain the HR portion of the Agency extranet. Administer the Tuition Reimbursement program and assists with the Paramedic Incentive Program as needed. Complete workers compensation and short-term disability verifications. Schedule and conduct exit interviews, completing unemployment claims and hearings. Take responsibility for specific HR-related projects as needed. Participates in essential HR training modules to ensure department and Agency compliance. Performs all other job related functions as assigned.
  • Employee Relations Issues – Assist with conducting and documenting investigations and make recommendations for performance management and/or progressive discipline in consultation with HR Leadership. Provide mentorship to employees in order to develop skills enabling them to maximize healthy work relationships and resolve conflict; advise employees in consultation with HR Leadership. Coordinate and facilitate grievance procedures. Maintain discipline/investigation files. Analyze, develop and review policies and regulations for personnel matters. Advise administrators on the proper procedure in handling personnel matters and issues including employee performance management.
  • Employee Health and Well-Being - Develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain total wellbeing programming to reduce health risk, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles. Serve as Co-chair of the Wellness Committee. Answer employee questions regarding benefits and wellbeing program. Keep abreast of current national wellness and wellbeing initiatives and activities, developing a network of resources and contacts to use as appropriate. Explore ideas and opportunities to personalize the program to increase employee participation. Manage and track monthly billings and premium payments. Implement wellbeing related activities. Examples include health screenings, assisting with the health fair, flu-shots, fitness challenges, etc.
  • Oversee summer internship participants. Perform participant appraisals during and at the end of the program as needed. Complete and approve timecards. Schedule hours worked. Report hours worked to sponsor.
  • Customer Service – Provide effective, efficient, and timely customer service in conjunction with advocacy, resources and education for all employees to live well, be healthy and retire strong.
  • Agency Representation - Adhere to the Medic Standards of Behavior. Adhere to Medic’s Core Values of compassion, customer advocacy, fairness, honesty, integrity, responsibility and straight forwardness. Maintain a positive working relationship with internal and external customers. Maintain confidentiality of information, abide by all applicable laws, comply with departmental policies and corporate compliance plans. Make recommendations for process improvement. Development and support adherence to all Agency policy and procedures.
  • Agency Events and Functions – Provide all needed assistance for Agency events including but not limited to: Project work including functioning as a Project Lead, New Hire Academies, EMS week, Employee Recognition Event, Open Enrollment, Performance Management and Health Fair.
Education/Experience
  • A/B.S or equivalent in education/experience
  • Two (2) years of HR Generalist work
  • Must be able to regularly resolve issues with minimal supervision
  • PHR, SHRM-CP and NC Notary preferred
Salary: Starting pay ranges from $24.9038-$28.0167, with increase based upon experience.
