Overview

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking an experienced civil engineer to join our collaborative and innovative aviation team. This is a remote part-time position that will be the technical lead for aviation projects throughout Illinois.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include elements of project programming, planning, design, and construction management for airfield projects. This may include analyzing, preparing, and reviewing engineering design reports, specifications, construction cost estimates, and plans for various airport design projects; reading and interpreting Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Aeronautics policies and guidance; reading and interpreting FAA Advisory Circulars; and creating scope and fee estimates for project work. As an experienced engineer, the candidate will be expected to mentor and teach junior engineers. The position may also consist of business development as needed. Occasional travel to job sites and Mead & Hunt offices will be required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have all of the following:

• a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
• at least ten years of relevant work experience
• PE license in Illinois

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following:

• Experience with Non-Hub Primary or General Aviation airports in Illinois.
• Creating policies and procedures
• Technical and Non-Technical writing
• Mentoring less experienced staff
