Job Summary:

The Human Resource Generalist/Recruiter will work directly with General Counsel and has responsibility for the administration and maintenance of general human resources functions, including but not limited to staffing, benefits, employee relations, HRIS/HRMS, affirmative action, and health and safety programs. They will work with the Legal Department to help ensure the organization complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations for all policies, including health, welfare, and retirement plans. This position will be based in the Allen office and requires daily in-office presence. Some travel will be required.

Major Goals and Responsibilities:

  • Employee RelationsEstablish and manage intricate employee files and records, including audit files, to guarantee accurate and organized paperwork processing and filing. Collaborate with the General Counsel to address grievances and assist in employee relations investigations when required, enhancing employee morale and productivity while upholding company policies. Additionally, support the General Counsel and executive managers in implementing corrective actions as necessary to foster a team-oriented approach and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Recruiting and Staffing – Efficiently fill open positions by screening, interviewing, and referring qualified candidates to MD7's hiring managers and executives. Collaborate closely with hiring managers to gain a deep understanding of job requirements, update job descriptions as needed, post positions on diverse job boards, and actively monitor the effectiveness of these postings. Additionally, take charge of candidate databases, regularly generate status reports, guide hiring managers, maintain open communication with recruitment agencies, and ensure strict compliance with MD7's recruitment standards.
  • Benefits Administration – Responsible for administering health and welfare plans, encompassing enrollments and terminations, while diligently processing necessary documentation through UKG/payroll and insurance providers to maintain precise record-keeping. Prioritize fostering employees' comprehension of benefits programs by consistently initiating communication and counseling employees and their dependents as needed in various situations.
  • Onboarding/OffboardingResponsible for comprehensive new employee onboarding, including orientations at headquarters and remote locations to ensure a clear understanding of MD7's policies. Additionally, oversee the tracking of all necessary employee training, including compliance checks related to driving and insurance. Collaborate with the General Counsel and other managers to handle termination matters, conduct exit interviews, analyze termination data, and coordinate feedback effectively.
  • Leave of Absence Administration – In charge of diligently monitoring and documenting employee leaves of absence, which include LOA, FMLA, PDL, ADA, and various state leaves. This role encompasses explaining leave rights and responsibilities, gathering and providing necessary paperwork, and liaising between employees and relevant authorities. Additionally, actively assist with EDD claims, Unemployment, Disability, Paid Family Leave, and engagement with national unemployment departments as required. 
  • Compliance – Proactively identify and adhere to all employment laws and company policies and procedures, actively participating in tasks such as coordinating the Company phone book, conducting performance reviews, implementing corrective actions, and developing plans as necessary. Additionally, take responsibility for preparing government reports related to EEO compliance and other HR functions.

Other Job Functions:

  • Reporting – Deliver a range of HR reports and research to meet management's requests at all levels. This role may also involve handling employment verification and reference checks for current and former employees and processing employee status changes and other relevant paperwork as needed.

Key Skills and Characteristics for Success:

  1. Intermediate skill with MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  2. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and proven experience interacting and presenting to upper management.
  3. Advanced experience utilizing Internet online recruiting sources to identify and recruit candidates and demonstrated ability to conduct effective interviews.
  4. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and drive projects/initiatives to completion.
  5. Excellent customer service, organizational, and time-management skills. Able to apply judgment and critical thinking to complex business issues.
  6. Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.

Experience:

  1. Broad Human Resources experience required, including administering employee benefits.
  2. Experience building HR teams preferred.
  3. Multi-state experience, including Texas and California, is a plus.
  4. Experience coaching and advising others required.

Licenses or Certifications:

  1. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred
  2. PHR certification preferred.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources field preferred but not required.

Additional information

Pay Range $80,000-$90,000 

Commensurate with experience
