Coordinate, plan, initiate, and oversee the operational and administrative aspects of a project, often working with multiple internal team members, contractors, and clients. Plans, directs and coordinates the operations and sales of the modernization project(s).
Job Duties1. Manage and direct the operations and administrative activities of the Process Crane & Modernization business2. Enter service orders, purchase orders and all job-related information into ERP system as needed or required3. Work with vendors to ensure on time delivery of components4. Travel to job sites, as needed, for sales, operations, estimating or customer relations5. Provide necessary support and field supervision for crane/modernization projects or activities; assume the role of project manager, directing all operations and field activities, as required6. Create and maintain schedule of all ongoing projects; coordinate with Field Project Engineers as to the completeness and accuracy of the schedule7. Responsible for assisting on the planning that occurs before a project is started8. Must be capable of performing the complex calculations necessary for risk assessments, resource allocation, and budgeting of crane/modernization projects9. Assist in design and build of electrical control panels using CAD or similar software10. Responsible for the direction and management of on-site field service crews and/or subcontractors; works with the field project engineers and subcontractors to ensure all aspects of job are complete11. Assist and oversee the scheduling of modernizations for customers and plan service for the existing service crew and/or subcontractors; ensure that all work in the active jobs report is scheduled or tentatively planned on the scheduling board (could be e-board or other)12. Ensure all paperwork, including service orders, time sheets, expenses reports, etc. are completed accurately and on a in a timely manner13. Resolve all customer complaints to the satisfaction of the customer and in the best interest of Mazzella Companies14. Maintain on-going communications with the salesperson (or staff), as appropriate, regarding problems or issues related to managing projects15. Conduct, on a regular basis, spot inspections and audits of the modernization technician’s equipment and vehicles for proper function, possession and use of safety equipment, line stock and general conditions16. Oversee routine changes to the active jobs report, as needed; ensure the active jobs report reflects the current status of any active modernization work and is updated as needed17. Supervise the purchase of materials and supplies for jobs; Approval of purchase orders through established procedures18. Monitor the profit level of all modernization and/or crane jobs19. Organize as well as participate in the monthly planning and goals meetings20. Assist with the administration of Engineered Lifeline Projects including developing a sales and billing process and training the new person once hired21. Assist with the AchieveIT process as well as information for the weekly BPR meeting.22. Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner; follow all Safety Guidelines23. Other duties as assigned
EducationA high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Industrial Engineering or related discipline is preferred; in the absence of a degree, directly-related job experience serving in a management role in a manufacturing facility, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement
Experience & Skills• Extensive operations leadership experience, preferably in the crane industry• Excellent organizational skills• Experience in conflict resolution, direct labor utilization, budget development, maintaining equipment, maintenance schedules of mission critical equipment• Ability to identify bottlenecks and determine effective solutions• Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting and tracking and trending organizational metrics• Ability to identify cost savings strategies and implement promptly and effectively• Requires solid written and verbal communication skills (Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization)• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude• Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required• Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required• Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task• Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
