Maybelle Center is seeking a Nutrition Services Manager who will play a crucial role in overseeing all daily operations of the Nutritional Services team at the Assisted Living Facility. They will manage a team to maintain a high-quality standard of menu options and exceptional service, ensuring staff and resident satisfaction. They will also ensure all operations adhering to local, state (Oregon Administrative Rules – OARs), and federal regulations related to food service and nutrition. This position is full-time, exempt and will be on-site at the Macdonald Residence Assisted Living Facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensures residents receive consistent, prompt, and attentive service.
· Gathers feedback from residents and staff on quality and enhancement of menu options.
· Monitors all food service operations and ensures compliance with local, state, federal food safety laws and regulations.
· In accordance with OAR 411-054-0030 – prepare menus (Special of the Week) at least one week in advance and must be made available to all residents. Meal substitutions must be of similar nutritional value if a resident refuses the food that is served. Residents must be informed in advance of menu changes.
· Develop and test new food recipes and new products.
· Creation and maintenance departmental budget, and management of department expenses with awareness of overall organization budget.
· Creating Nutritional Service Plans for individual residents as needed.
· Manage meal preparation at least two days per week while overseeing daily operations to uphold the meal quality.
· Providing direct supervision for all nutritional staff, including overseeing recruitment activities, ongoing and consistent training support, and evaluation.
· Oversee all compliance regulations and requirements for frequent state surveys.
· Creates and posts monthly schedules for all nutritional staff (by the 15th of the month for the following month).
· Assigns duties and monitors work in accordance with policies and procedures.
· Maintains cleanliness, appearance, and proper setting of dining area.
· Plans and create menu options for residents and staff at least two weeks in advance with the support of other nutritional staff team members.
· Frequently monitors food inventory making note of all expiration dates.
· Order food supplies and nutritional supplements (i.e. Ensure) as appropriate in accordance with inventory and determined department budget.
· Supports special projects for events and annual celebrations as assigned.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· At least 3 years’ demonstrated experience supervising a team of 5 or more employees.
· Required certifications and licenses – Food Handler card and ServSafe certification.
· Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a nutrition service setting, such as a hospital, school, or food service establishment.
· In-depth understanding of nutrition principles, dietary guidelines, culinary skills, and the ability to apply this knowledge to menu planning and food service preparation to maintain successful kitchen operations.
· Knowledge of and experience with local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety, health codes, and nutrition services.
· Commitment to providing excellent customer service, addressing resident needs, and maintaining positive relationships.
· Training and knowledge in maintaining health and safety standards, including food safety and hygiene practices.
· Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, residents, and other stakeholders.
· Excellent organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
· Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and environments in a fast-paced setting.
· Critical thinking skills to assess situations, make informed decisions, and continuously improve operations.
· Keen attention to detail to maintain high standards in food quality, presentation, and service.
· Fosters a compassionate and respectful environment for residents, families, visitors, and colleagues.
· Valid Oregon State driver’s license and good driving record.

· Precise control and coordination of fingers and hands for tasks such as handling kitchen utensils, equipment, and operating machinery.
· Adequate hearing to communicate with team members, understand instructions, and ensure a safe working environment.
· Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and to talk and hear.
· Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; walk and stoop, kneel and crouch.
· Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
· The environment is characteristic of a facility in which healthcare is provided to the frail elderly. The noise level is usually moderate.

Compensation
Starting salary - $55,000 - $70,000 Annually
