Description

SUMMARY

Directly responsible for designing and implementing a marketing and business development plan to expand food access services and achieve program growth. Networks and collaborates with other food access organizations to expand the reach of program. Maintains strong relationships with existing customers to ensure customer satisfaction and retention and manages sponsorship of afterschool and summer meals.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Food Access and Business Development

  • Sets goals for food access expansion and business development in consultation with management.
  • Achieves goals by designing and implementing a marketing and business development plan that expands food access services and achieves growth in revenue.
  • Networks and conducts outreach to key constituencies, including being involved in related coalitions, attending partner meetings to identify opportunities, and developing effective business relationships with decision makers for food services.
  • Researches and identifies potential customers, conducts business outreach, cultivates business relationships with key decision makers, maintains high touch communications, organizes tastings, and secures business contracts for food services.
  • Conducts market research and customer analysis.
  • Does presentations about Good Harvest services.
  • Keeps both current and potential customers informed about Good Harvest developments through social media and website updates, working in partnership with the SVDP Director of Communications and Marketing.

Customer Relations

  • Leads the onboarding of new customers so that there is a favorable and smooth start to a new customer’s meal services.
  • Maintains strong relationships with the key leaders for existing customer retention and ensures existing customer needs and requests are met.
  • Proactively and regularly visits customers to obtain direct feedback and facilitate adjustments to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures all existing customer contracts are updated and renewed in a timely manner.

Meal Sponsorship

  • Serves as Good Harvest’s primary contact with state oversight agency for sponsored meals (MSDE) and assumes the lead role for MSDE/USDA compliance, keeping appraised of CACFS and SFSP regulations.
  • Recruits new sites to participate in the Summer Food Service Program and Afterschool Meal Program and trains site supervisors how to implement food services that are in compliance.
  • Oversees the collection and submission of data and documentation from meal sites.).
  • Serves as lead staff person on preparing for and undergoing SFSP and CACFP audits.
  • Prepare monthly Attend all CACFP and SFSP annual trainings as SVDP representative.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Recruits and coordinates individual and group volunteers to support Good Harvest, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Attends and fully participates in all staff meetings and other internal meetings.
  • Upholds vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
  • Assists with and attends special events help by St. Vincent de Paul Enterprises, as necessary.
  • Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required.
  • 4 years of experience in marketing, business development, and customer relations and outreach. Experience in food service industry is a plus.
  • Effective at forming strong external relationships with potential and existing customers, other food access leaders, and government representatives.
  • Strong embrace of Good Harvest mission of expanding food access to underserved populations.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize one’s work effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Persuasive public speaker.
  • Very strong computer and data skills.
  • Strong organization, administrative, and time management skills.
  • Positive attitude, demeanor, and patience.
  • Cultural understanding, including the ability to relate in a courteous, comfortable, non-judgmental and non-patronizing manner with persons of all socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team model setting.
