Description
SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Camp St. Vincent, the Crossing Guard is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and safety in crossing zones near the camp site. The incumbent will prepare crossing zone and assists children and pedestrians in crossing streets safely on a seasonal basis while camp is in session.
PRIMARY DUTIES

1. Crosses all Camp St. Vincent related Campers, Youth Works Staff and Counselors on Patterson Park Ave/Gough Street intersection.
2. Timely arrival to work, and presence during work hours: 8:00am-4:00pm, M-F (Lunch: 1:00-1:30pm).
3. Supports CSV team in other duties as assigned

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

1. Timely attendance to duties.
2. Actively cross all CSV Campers, YW and Counselors, whether or not a CSV staff is present in the group.
3. Check street and enter crosswalk before CSV members.
4. Educated Campers on proper crosswalk etiquette.
5. Model positive and appropriate behavior at all times.
6. Attend field trips as staff attendant as needed.
7. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must be 18 years of age or older by June 18, 2018.
2. Be able to communicate verbally with campers and provide instructions.
3. A desire and ability to work outdoors.
4. Ability to accept supervision and guidance.
5. Ability to displays enthusiasm, patience and self-control.
6. Minimal use of cell phone during work hours.
7. Ability to commit to 8 weeks of uninterrupted work and pre and post camp planning meetings.
8. Successful completion of background screening.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Type of work:
   SEDENTARY WORK: Lifting 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying small articles and occasional walking and standing.

LIGHT WORK: Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. It involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing/pulling of arm/or leg controls.
XMEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
HEAVY WORK: Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects no more than 50 pounds.
