Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General is Hiring an Administrative Assistant, Environmental Crimes Strike Force Near Boston, MA

Administrative Assistant Energy & Environment Bureau/Environmental Crimes Strike Force Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated individual to provide both administrative and paralegal assistance to the Environmental Crimes Strike Force (ECSF) of the Energy & Environment Bureau. The ECSF investigates and prosecutes crimes that harm the state's air, land, or water, or that pose a significant threat to human health. The ECSF is an interagency team that includes prosecutors from the Attorney General's Office, officers from the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and investigators, engineers, and attorneys from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). ECSF partners meet regularly to evaluate whether enforcement against environmental violations should be done administratively, civilly, or criminally. The most egregious violations are referred for criminal prosecution.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant works directly with the Division Chief and Division Assistant Attorneys General (AAsG) in supporting the administrative and paralegal needs of the Division. Administrative duties may include tracking cases; compiling records; responding to inquiries from the public; coordinating with experts; and assisting in the development, implementation, and presentation of ECSF priorities. The Administrative Assistant serves as ECSF's contact for bureaus and divisions across the office, including the Executive Bureau (Human Resources, IT, Budget, and Operations Divisions) and other divisions in the Energy & Environment Bureau (Energy & Telecommunications Division and Environmental Protection Division). The Administrative Assistant also provides direct support to the Division Chief and Division AAsG, including preparing reports and correspondence, managing schedules, and responding to telephone calls.
The Administrative Assistant provides day-to-day support for all aspects of ECSF attorneys' case responsibilities. Paralegal duties may include fact gathering; research; attending court hearings and trials; drafting discovery or other pleadings; organizing and maintaining files; reviewing documents and exhibits; providing support and assistance to the attorneys in preparation for hearings, meetings, or trials; communicating with attorneys and witnesses, as well as court clerk's offices and members of the public; screening and preparing correspondence; managing calendars (including the scheduling of critical dates, deadlines, and case-related appointments); completing forms; preparing and filing court documents; and maintaining and updating case management systems.
The Administrative Assistant handles critical and confidential materials, is in frequent contact with members of the public, and helps ensure the highest level of professionalism in ECSF. This is a fast-paced, high-profile work environment that requires the ability to work on a range of complex matters, often under time pressure.
