General Description
The successful candidate will perform as a database administrator, providing support and expertise to the Air Force Human Resources (HR) division in San Antonio, TX, This program includes providing software development, architecture, and development standards expertise as well as evaluating new technologies and leading teams through the design, development, test, and deployment of software updated to existing HR systems. This requires the candidate to support data modeling and database updates based on functionality updates, investigation into system outages, data refreshes, security patches, software and hardware updates, functional enhancements, programming, testing, training, and document development. Responsibilities further include assisting with the performance of data analysis and evaluation, data migration, performing data cleansing activities, performing data migration, and monitoring production database performance.
Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will participate in the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases. The candidate will support the execution of quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. They will work with management to develop database strategies to support organization requirements; consult with and advise users on access to various databases; work directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage; perform the maintenance and use of the corporate data dictionary; provide second-tier support to end-users for database applications; and handle problems that the first-tier of help desk support is unable to resolve. The candidate may interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems.
Specialized Knowledge
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field.
Professional Certifications
CompTIA Security is required.
Oracle Database Certified Professional (OCP), and Oracle Database Certified Associate (OCA) are preferred but not required.
Clearance
None required. However, must be able to obtain a favorable adjudication of a NAC-I investigation.
Experience
10 years of senior database administrator experience focused on database management, system maintenance (patching, etc.), data migration strategy development and execution, and data cleansing tasks.
U.S. Citizen or Similar
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Skills and Abilities
Experience with database management of Oracle databases
Other Characteristics (e.g., Personal or Language)
Excellent oral, written, and communication in English. Must be able to work in a team environment with members that include personnel from other companies, Government program management and administrative personnel, and technical staff members.
Working conditions, including location
Remote
Client duty hours are Monday through Friday.
