Cherokee Federal is Hiring a Database Administrator Near San Antonio, TX

Database Administrator

We seek a Database Administrator to join the team. You will be instrumental in supporting mission-critical enterprise applications for a high-profile Federal government client. Your primary responsibility will be managing and enhancing SQL Server database environments, contributing significantly to our team's success.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Database Administrator: $95K-$102K.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Database Administrator Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and optimize SQL Server databases in a Windows server environment, ensuring efficient design, development, and operational support.
  • Develop solutions using Transact SQL (T-SQL) and oversee database replication and synchronization tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues impacting multiple applications.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide mentorship to junior database administrators.
  • Manage project documentation and source code using tools like Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
  • Participate actively in SCRUM project teams as a subject matter expert in DBA Development and Operations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Database Administrator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science with a focus on Database Systems or Software Development required.
  • Current CompTIA Security CE or other DoD IAT II or higher-level baseline certification required.
  • Microsoft SQL Database or other database management certification required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of recent work experience administering relational Databases.
  • At least 7 years of experience in SQL Server Operations DBA roles, with a strong background in T-SQL development on SQL Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 platforms.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server architecture, administration, and security.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Expertise in SQL query optimization and ETL tasks using SQL Integration Services.
  • Experience in managing cloud database environments and aligning database structures with business requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on mentoring and team collaboration.
  • Relevant certifications in Microsoft SQL and experience with the SailPoint IdentityIQ product are advantageous.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
