We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our faith-based organization's Shepherd’s Flock. As a Teacher Assistant, you will play a crucial role in fostering a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. You will have the opportunity to integrate your teaching skills with the values and principles of our faith-based organization, providing children with a well-rounded educational experience.

Shepherd’s Flock Intergenerational Child Care Center was established in 1997. The center provides professional childcare and developmentally appropriate education in a faith-filled environment. Teacher-child relationships are geared to provide an atmosphere of love and understanding, while emphasizing the welfare and personality development of each child and their family.

Part-time and PRN Substitute positions are available.

Responsibilities:

• Attend twenty (20) clock hours of in-service training per year.
• Work as needed and/or assigned.
• Communicate daily with team teacher, assistants, volunteers and parents.
• Have immediate communication with Director regarding suspected child abuse and neglect.
• Use positive discipline and guidance techniques.
• Provide an environment sensitive to the children’s socio-economic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds and individual needs and capabilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
• Must meet all state (DCFS) qualification requirements for a licensed Child Care facility.
• Experience in working with children preferred.
• Must be able to speak, read, comprehend and write legibly in English.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents in English such as safety procedures, general office procedures, and operational manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak English effectively to individuals, customers, or employees of the organization.
