About The Role:

The Staff Development/Clinical Education Specialist will be responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring Team Member education and development training programs for all departments of Lutheran Home, emphasizing Nursing, including Lutheran Home’s new Team Member orientation and mandatory in-service programs. They will also maintain and report on the Team Member training database system for Lutheran Home.

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Nursing Services team in assessing clinical education and training needs; develops and implements competency programs to meet all JCAHO, CMS, and IDPH requirements for Nursing.
  • Provides nursing department orientation for all new nursing department Team Members.
  • Serves as lead facilitator for nursing department orientation on the units.
  • Mentors new nursing hires including follow up after orientation is complete.
  • Develops and updates nursing department orientation process based on participant feedback and long term care regulation.
  • Ensures CNA/Nurse annual training requirements are being met.
  • Participates in the planning, coordinating and implementing of the Lutheran Home New Team Member Orientation program, in accordance with all current applicable federal, state, and Lutheran Home requirements.
  • Participates in the developing, coordinating and implementing of Lutheran Life Communities EHR Virtual Training Classes for nurses as part of the New Team Member Orientation program.
  • Participates in the development of new training programs including but not limited to annual skills fair as an enterprise-wide Team Member training and development initiative.
  • In coordination with Human Resources, plans and coordinates mandatory in-service program and schedule for Lutheran Home, ensuring Nursing compliance with current federal and state regulations.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • At least two years experience in planning and leading educational and job training activities, adult education, or training and development.
  • Current Illinois Nurse License required. RN preferred.
  • CIC preferred
  • Experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience
