Job Description: Prep Cook
Food & Beverage

The Role 
The Prep Cook is responsible for delivering the highest quality food and service at all times. Cooks are responsible for daily operational procedures and are responsible for food production and plating in accordance with company specs and timing standards. Prep cooks are responsible for following Company recipes at all times.

Responsibilities

  • In charge of setting up and breaking down their station daily. 
  • Perform routing kitchen tasks.
  • Follow the prep listed created.
  • Preparing cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meats, etc.
  • Assisting with stocking, labeling, ordering, dating, receiving and following proper food safety procedures. 
  • Setup workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties, prepare simple dishes such as salads and appetizers..
  • Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
  • Checking food prep and storage areas to ensure they don’t violate any health codes or safety regulations.
  • Assisting with washing dishes during operations.
  • Comply with all nutrition and sanitation guidelines.

Requirements & Experience

  • Clear understanding of the English language (verbal and written)..
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimal work experience.
  • Ability to work in hot and damp environments.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations to avoid endangering themselves or others.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand, up to 8 hours per shift. 
  • Flexible in schedule and willing to meet the demands of a complex operation. 
  • Time management skills.
  • Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations. 
  • State Issued Food Handlers certificate
