    The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A cost of up to $49.00 will be charged for fingerprinting.
    PRIMARY PURPOSE
    To facilitate efficient operation of transportation department, including providing clerical, payroll, and operational duties for the Director, Transportation and department staff.
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
    • Provide administrative support to the Director, Transportation and the Assistant Director, Transportation including maintaining calendars, answering phones and writing memos.
    • Proofread and edit correspondence for distribution to all Transportation employees.
    • Process new employees by adding them TransFinder, scheduling certification classes, setting up DOT physicals and drugs tests and assigning them to a trainer.
    • Assist callers and walk-in applicants with information regarding the application and interview process.
    • Support training plans through scheduling and assist employees with instructions for completion.
    • Maintain listing for quarterly random drug testing and assist with instructing employees on how to complete testing.
    • Complete daily mileage sheets.
    • Make edits to department handbook and policy manual with direction from Director, Transportation and review by Human Resources.
    • Compile employee records for all transportation staff with documents related to interviewing, reprimands and absenteeism and forward to Human Resources on a weekly basis.
    • Enters EMATS for all new hires, terminations, promotions, demotions and transfers.
    • Maintains fleet records which includes license plate and titles for all vehicles.
    • Coordinates records retention each year.
    • Maintain the Transportation LNET site.
    • Prepare and distribute the agendas for monthly meetings; track attendance and keep minutes.
    • Send out bus alerts for delayed buses via e-mail.
    • Receive and direct incoming telephone calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
    • Assist in Tracking drivers’ records, DMV, Drug, TEA Certification and physicals.
    • File accident reports, current physicals, drug tests and copies of driver’s licenses as necessary.
    • Track monthly statistics on accidents.
    • Greet visitors and respond to inquiries from staff members and the general public.
    • Receive, review and distribute departmental mail.
    • Act as a backup for Dispatch and the Trips Department
    • Coordinates LISD third-party testing sessions.
    • Schedule DPS test dates.
    • Maintain toll database and order new toll tags.
    • Assist in obtaining and compiling information for yearly surveys and special projects as needed.
    • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the employees and applicants.
    • Frequent contact with all levels of district employees, applicants, outside agencies, and the general public.
    • Keep informed of and comply with state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
    • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
    • Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
    Education/Certification/Experience:
    • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
    • Experience in administrative support work with payroll or accounting preferred.
    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Knowledge of word processing; data entry; file maintenance , including the ability to maintain accurate and auditable administrative, financial, and student records; and basic bookkeeping/accounting principles and practices.
    • Skill in organization; interpersonal relations; and communicating pleasantly and effectively with students, parents, and staff members.
    • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality; use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets; maintain and update databases; accomplish word processing tasks; prepare presentations; and access e-mail and Internet applications.

    • Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
    • Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
    • Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
    • Work with frequent interruptions.
    • Maintain composure and professionalism at all times.
