THE CANDIDATE: For you to be the ideal candidate, you should have the following:

  • Exceptional communication skills including effective negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of sales/hospitality principles and practices.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information in the sales/marketing field and make logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding leadership skills as well as impeccable associate and customer relations.

JOB SUMMARY: The Sales Manager will plan, solicit, book and coordinate sales to meet/exceed revenue/profit goals and manage client relationships to ensure that all revenue and marketing opportunities are realized. This position may be required to service multiple markets as the hotel's business needs dictate. This position reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through various efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, referrals, networking, etc.) to maximize revenue to meet/exceed goals.
  2. Utilize available prospecting tools to focus time each week on proactive selling efforts.
  3. Conduct site tours and schedule in-person appointments with new and current clients.
  4. Notify/coordinate customer specifications with other departments and quickly, efficiently respond to customer issues, comments and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.
  5. Develop a marketing strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market trends and creating selling strategies to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.
  6. Increase our market share through relationship building, trade shows and community/professional organizations.
  7. Develop and continually enhance relationships with key accounts to maintain and increase our market share.
  8. Anticipate group needs and opportunities and provide immediate solutions.
  9. Maximize each revenue opportunity for assigned customers by creating effective strategies for revenue growth.
  10. Assist in the coordination and participation in target market trade shows and sales blitzes.
  11. Maintain accurate, organized and up-to-date files including computer filing and sales platform records (attachments, traces, activities, etc.).
  12. Ability to make decisions based on established policies and procedures.
  13. Advanced proficiency in the use of Sales, Point of Sales, Property Management Systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and Delphi fdc.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years in Hospitality, and 3 years in hospitality sales
  • At least 2 full years of employment in a hotel group sales manager position.
  • Excellent technical skills including proficiency in the use of applicable sales systems (Delphi.FDC/Salesforce, CI/TY, Envision) Point of Sales and Property Management Systems as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, sell, and influence clients and hotel guests.
  • Ability to handle multiple ongoing projects/tasks in a fast-paced team environment and deal with/interact all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and communicate in English to adequately perform the duties of the job.
  • Excellent knowledge of hospitality sales principles and practices.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information in the sales/marketing field.
  • Ability to travel to area businesses and accounts to solicit new business as needed.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying inquiries made by guests, staff, and corporate officers.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to engage with guests and associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive material with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
  • Must be energetic, a self-starter, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest and/or operational needs.
  • Must be able to maintain standards of attendance and punctuality and must be able to work varying schedules that include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
  • Excellent attention to detail, flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Job will require some travel.
  • Willing to be entrepreneurial and take risks.
  • Positive, outgoing and self-motivated with pleasant personality.
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance in all situations.
