The Role:
Responsibilities
• Manage preparation ofall U.S. tax compliance (excluding payroll taxes) ensuring timely and accuratefiling of all tax returns, including working collaboratively in co-sourcingarrangement with outside firm.
• Develop and maintainefficient and effective tax compliance processes to optimize resourceutilization and ensure the accuracy of the returns.
• Complete research tosupport positions taken in the tax returns and prepare required supportingdocumentation, including memorandums.
• Coordinate with theCanadian tax team on matters of common relevance.
• Monitor impact ofchanges in tax law on the company’s compliance obligations.
• Manage tax audits,including responding to requests for information in a timely and accuratemanner, preparing responses to proposed adjustments, resolving tax disputes,and bringing audits to efficient and favorable conclusions.
• Ensure timely andaccurate responses to tax notices and correspondence.
• Develop and maintaintax compliance policies and procedures.
• Develop and maintaininternal controls under Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 for the tax complianceprocesses ensuring no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses.Coordinate with the Internal Audit Department to complete audits of internalcontrols efficiently and effectively.
• Assist in acquisitiondue diligence, structuring/planning, and post-acquisition integrationactivities.
• Coordinate with theManager, Tax Accounting to ensure efficient integration of the tax accountingand compliance processes, including reconciliation of book income,identification of book-tax differences, apportionment, return-to-provisionadjustments, reconciliation of tax general ledger accounts, etc.
Requirements
• CPA required.
• 6 years required, 8years preferred of advanced knowledge of federal and multistate corporate taxconcepts.
• 6 years required, 8years preferred of preparing and reviewing large, complex consolidated federaland multistate income tax returns in a Big 4 public accounting firm and/orcorporate tax department.
• 6 years required, 8years preferred of advanced knowledge of ASC 740.
• 1 years required, 3years preferred of knowledge of international tax concepts.
• Ability to multitask,prioritize responsibilities, complete work timely and accurately, and workindependently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational,analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written andverbal communication skills.
• Strong computerskills, including spreadsheets, word processing, and tax technology tools(preferably OneSource Income Tax).
