THE OPPORTUNITY
Kipsu is seeking a Controller to join our Finance team. In this role, you’ll play a unique and interesting role in a high growth, leading edge Minneapolis based software company. In this role, you’d manage the financial and administrative tasks under guidance from the CFO. This includes overseeing the company’s accounting functions, ensuring timely financial statement preparation, implementing budget controls, managing cash flow and assisting in financial statement audits.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Kipsu is seeking a Controller to join our Finance team. In this role, you’ll play a unique and interesting role in a high growth, leading edge Minneapolis based software company. In this role, you’d manage the financial and administrative tasks under guidance from the CFO. This includes overseeing the company’s accounting functions, ensuring timely financial statement preparation, implementing budget controls, managing cash flow and assisting in financial statement audits.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Prepare variance analysis on department budgets and company financial statements
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting accounting processes, providing valuable insights to support strategic decision making
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting control operations, including treasury management, policy & procedure, financial modeling, audit support, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger reconciliations.
- Manage the external audit process, collaborating with auditors to provide necessary documentation and ensuring a smooth audit
- Manage cash flow and treasury functions, optimizing liquidity and overseeing relationships with financial institutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance and support for various business initiatives
- Manage and supervise staff and take an active role in their professional development
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain data integrity
- Manage special projects and initiatives. Other duties as assigned
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- We will favor candidates that have the following characteristics and background:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA designation
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role, with 6 years of experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and regulatory compliance
- Experience in SaaS growth company is highly desirable
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (preferably experience in NetSuite), Microsoft Excel and Google sheets
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in all work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Willing to commute to our office in Minneapolis, MN and work on-site as needed (3-4 days per week)
