Description

Marcus Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Property Controller to be part of our leadership team as we expand our portfolio. Our newest addition will be a downtown Minneapolis, full-service, $15M revenue property with a global brand affiliation. The Property Controller/Director of Finance will direct all property based accounting functions including; management of staff, development and administration of accounting procedures, timely and accurate production of financial statements and records, effective analysis of financial results and implementation of best practices. The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership and cross-departmental collaboration in order to appropriately set and achieve property financial goals.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure the efficient performance of all hotel accounting disciplines, including receivables, payables, income audit, and payroll.
  • Cultivate and lead a top-tier hospitality team, overseeing training, fostering development, and nurturing harmonious associate relations through effective communication and leadership.
  • Analyze existing accounting procedures and controls to optimize efficiency and uphold industry-standard accounting principles within the department.
  • Establish and maintain robust accounting safeguards and protocols to ensure the confidentiality and security of financial records and resources.
  • Manage and negotiate property contracts and agreements to support the hotel's operations.
  • Supervise the production of financial reports and statements for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Direct and coordinate the annual budgeting process for financial and capital projections within the hotel.
  • Provide precise monthly financial projections, forecasts, and cash flow statements.
  • Deliver financial results and pertinent analysis to property leaders, the company, and all other stakeholders.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive accounting audits at the hotel level, ensuring compliance across various departments.
  • Offer operational insights and data to hotel leadership to allow for informed decision-making.
  • Play an active role in strategically leading the property, proposing efficiency-enhancing ideas and actively seeking areas for improvement.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous management-level accounting experience, preferably at least 5-10 years. Experience within the hospitality industry is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve desired results.
  • Four-year degree in accounting, business administration, or finance is preferred.
  • Superior leadership, management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to make connections across departments and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong analysis and problem identification/resolution skills.
  • A meticulous eye for detail.
  • Represent company in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work required hours in order to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
