to Work For, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Director
for our elite, multi-state, full-service creditors' rights law firm. Reporting
directly to our VP of Enterprise, this position will be instrumental in shaping the
HR landscape of our organization, which is driven by a mission to attract and
retain the industry's most talented individuals while delivering high-quality
legal services. You will not only manage the day-to-day, tactical components of
HR operations, but will also evolve and elevate our HR practices in line with
our firm's culture - grounded in merit, respect, hard work, and excellent results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic HR Management: Develop and implement HR strategies that are
in sync with the overall business goals, continuously assessing and revising
to ensure alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor HR team members,
ensuring consistent and high-quality HR service delivery while fostering a
collaborative team environment that encourages growth and excellence.
  • Talent Acquisition & Retention: Manage full-cycle recruitment, from
sourcing to hiring, ensuring attraction of top talent and developing
innovative retention strategies, focusing on career development and
employee satisfaction.
  • Performance Management: Oversee performance review procedures and
provide guidance and support to management regarding employee
performance through constructive feedback and actionable plans.
  • Employee Relations & Engagement: Actively support employee relations
by resolving workplace conflicts, performing workplace investigations, and
facilitating effective communication plans according to each case's unique
circumstances.
  • Compliance & Legal: Proactively address legal updates to ensure all HR
practices are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs across the organization
and implement development programs.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Collaborate with payroll specialist to manage
and review compensation structures and benefit programs.
  • HR Analytics: Utilize HR metrics and data analysis to inform decision-
making and enhance HR processes. Prepare reports and presentations on
key HR metrics for senior management.
  • Change Management: Lead and facilitate organizational change initiatives,
ensuring effective communication and minimal disruption. Align change
management strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Tactical HR Operations: Oversee and manage daily HR tasks such as
onboarding, offboarding, leave management, and employee records
maintenance. Manage and resolve day-to-day employee issues and
inquiries.
  • Compliance Reporting: Compile and submit required HR reports, such as
EEO-1, ACA compliance, OSHA logs, and other state-specific reports.
  • HR Policy Development & Implementation: Develop, update, and enforce
HR policies and procedures to ensure best practices. Conduct regular
policy reviews and updates in response to changing legal and business
landscapes.
  • Comprehensive Leave Management: Administer various types of leave,
including FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, and personal leave,
ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related
field with a combination of relevant experience.
  • Current HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
  • Minimum of 7 years of direct HR experience, with at least 3 years in a
leadership role. Prior work experience in a legal or professional services
environment is strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive expertise in HR technology - sourcing, optimization,
integration, implementation, automations - is a must for this role.
  • Strong understanding of multi-state employment laws and legal
requirements unique to the professional services industry.
  • Proven expertise in strategic planning, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly detail oriented with the ability to meticulously manage HR data, processes, and documents with precision.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with experience working with ATS, LMS, BI tools, and HRIS systems. Direct experience with Proliant Payroll and/or Employee Navigator is a plus, but not required.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Proficiency in recruiting strategies,
including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring. Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and understanding of legal industry-specific talent
requirements.
  • Performance Management: Ability to design and implement performance
review systems. Skills in setting performance criteria, conducting
evaluations, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Employee Relations: Expertise in resolving workplace issues and
maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Training & Development: Skills in identifying training needs and
experience in career pathing and employee development plans.
  • Benefits Management: Expertise in managing and negotiating employee
benefits packages, including health insurance, retirement plans, etc.
  • HR Compliance Auditing: Skills in conducting regular HR audits to ensure
compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Ability to update HR policies
in accordance with changing legal requirements.
  • Risk Management: Understanding of risk management principles related to
HR, including workplace safety, workers' compensation, and liability issues.
  • Data Privacy & Security: Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations,
especially in handling sensitive employee information.
  • HR Analytics: Proficiency in using HR analytics to drive decision-making.
Ability to interpret and present data to support HR initiatives and
strategies.
  • Employee Onboarding & Offboarding: Experience in creating effective
onboarding programs for new hires. Skills in managing offboarding
processes, including exit interviews and transitions.
  • HR Technology Optimization & Implementation: Strong capability in
managing HRIS system upgrades and enhancements. Expertise in
maintaining high data integrity within HR systems and ensuring seamless
integration with other business systems (e.g., payroll, finance, operations).
  • Multi-State Employment Law Expertise: Advanced knowledge of
employment laws across various states, including specific requirements for
labor practices, wage and hour laws, and anti-discrimination policies.
  • Ethical HR Practices: Understanding the ethical obligations specific to the
legal profession including confidentiality, conflict of interest policies, and
the handling of sensitive client information.
