Kind Goods is Hiring a Purchasing Assistant Near St. Louis, MO

Position Summary: As a Purchasing Assistant for Kind Goods, you will be responsible for the procurement of cannabis products and related supplies for our dispensaries. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that our stores have a consistent and high-quality inventory to meet customer demand while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. This role will report to the Purchasing Manager and Director of Retail.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Vendor Management:

· Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors for cannabis products, accessories, and other store-related items.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing agreements.

· Monitor supplier performance and quality to ensure products meet the dispensary's standards.

2. Inventory Management:

· Implement inventory control measures to minimize wastage, reduce carrying costs, and ensure compliance with state regulations.

· Conduct regular inventory assessments and audits to address discrepancies and maintain accuracy.

3. Regulatory Compliance:

· Stay informed about changing regulations and compliance requirements within the cannabis industry.

· Ensure that all products purchased adhere to state and local laws, quality standards, and labeling requirements.

· Collaborate with the compliance team to address any potential compliance issues or product recalls.

4. Cost Control and Budgeting:

· Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, seek cost-saving opportunities, and analyze pricing trends.

· Track and report on purchasing expenses and variances.

5. Product Selection and Quality:

· Collaborate with the store teams, Regional Manager, Purchasing Manager and Director of Retail to understand customer preferences and market trends.

· Source high-quality cannabis strains, products, and accessories that align with customer expectations and brand image.

· Ensure the consistent availability of popular and in-demand products.

6. Market Research and Analysis:

· Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and potential new products.

· Monitor competitive pricing and product offerings to maintain a competitive advantage.

· Evaluate the performance of existing products and suggest improvements or discontinuations as needed.

7. Reporting and Documentation:

· Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities, supplier agreements, and inventory levels.

· Generate regular reports for management, including purchasing metrics and performance indicators.

· Keep detailed records for compliance purposes.

8. Point Of Sale (POS)

· Will build out all products for POS. Buildouts will include product descriptions, pictures, and pricing.

· Check online menus and Weedmaps to ensure product photos and descriptions match POS.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred).

· Proven experience in purchasing and procurement, ideally in the cannabis or retail industry.

· Strong knowledge of cannabis products, regulations, and the legal framework in your region.

· Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.

· Analytical and budgeting abilities.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

· Attention to detail and ability to work in a highly regulated environment.

· Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
